Chapter 602
Chapter 602:
“Got it!” Bobby sprang up from the bench and made his way out of the park briskly. “I’ll be there soon!”
Wendy, hearing the bounce in his voice, felt duped once more. What a despicable man!
Fernanda slid into Cristian’s car parked by the roadside, asking him to take her back to Dawn Villas.
Cristian looked over at her, and even in the dim car light, the marks from the slap on her face were clearly visible.
He reached out, gently tucking her hair behind her ear.
Fernanda met his gaze. “What’s wrong?”
Cristian’s fingers brushed her cheek softly as he asked, “Does it still hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt.” Fernanda grinned. “To be honest, it hardly stung. How much power can a single slap pack?”
Back in Zhota, when she tangled in brawls, those slaps left deeper marks. The punches back then had a real bite, so claiming this slap hurt would be stretching the truth.
Cristian’s warm hand caressed her cheek tenderly, as if trying to heal a wound that touched more than just skin; it seemed to pierce his very heart.
Guilt washed over him. “If I had just…”
“If you had what?” Fernanda cut in. “Noticed in time and played the knight? Do you really think that would’ve helped? Things could’ve turned out a lot messier.”
Cristian had no doubts about that.
Even if he had jumped into action, it wouldn’t have changed the outcome.
Now, he grappled with his own powerlessness.
“It won’t happen again,” Cristian declared, his eyes burning with resolve. He looked at Fernanda, his gaze heavy with promise. “I won’t let it.”

He was resolved to change his status.
Staying powerless wasn’t an option.
He was determined to shield those he cared about, to command respect.
Fernanda caught his drift and whispered, “I believe in your future, but take it slow. Don’t burn yourself out.”
She had once pushed herself to the brink, gasping for air.
Now, she wielded the strength to defend herself, a hard-earned power from years shrouded in shadows.
She couldn’t bear to watch Cristian walk that same rugged path.
Though she suspected his past shadows weren’t too different from her own, now that he’d found some peace, she wanted him to hold onto that, without the strain of her worries.
“You look out for me, and I’m here fretting over you,” Fernanda said with a warm smile. “You’re perfect just as you are. Can we keep it this way?”
Cristian felt a surge of warmth. His heart swelled with her words.
He nodded softly. “Alright.” She cherished him just as he was.
