Chapter 639
Chapter 639:
Thanks to their supportive home environment, Sloane’s pursuit of esports grew stronger, with her family standing behind her all the way. After a while, Fernanda excused herself and made her way to the restroom.
The restroom was at the far end of the floor, and after exiting, she made her way to the sink and washed her hands carefully.
As she finished, a shadow loomed beside her, prompting her to step aside and give the other person some space.
Rather than heading to the sink, the figure stepped closer, surprising Fernanda.
Turning her head, Fernanda’s gaze landed on someone she knew all too well.
“Well, this is an interesting twist,” she remarked, raising an eyebrow and grinning.
It was none other than Rafael.
“Oh, it’s you,” Rafael muttered, his expression flat as he looked her over. “I recognized your silhouette but thought I might be mistaken. Well, running into you here has really messed up my mood.”
“Really?” Fernanda’s smile widened, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “You can recognize me by my silhouette? Seems like you’ve been thinking about me more than you let on.”
Taken off guard by Fernanda’s bold response, Rafael stared at her, momentarily lost for words. “You… you are spouting nonsense!”
“Come on,” Fernanda replied. “I’m just stating the obvious.”
A dull ache began to throb at Rafael’s temples.
It wasn’t her silhouette he remembered—it was her legs. They were unforgettable, the most stunning he had ever seen.
Today, she wore deep blue jeans, perfectly tailored to highlight her long, sleek legs, making her impossible to miss.
“It feels like everything is going wrong today; bumping into you was the last thing I desired,” Rafael said through clenched teeth, hoping Fernanda wouldn’t misinterpret his frustration.

Fernanda had a knack for getting under his skin. She had just ended her engagement with Bobby, and now she was attempting to charm him. He wasn’t buying it. Not for a second.
“Well, looks like we both share the same kind of dislike for each other then,” Fernanda replied, her face impassive, but her eyes glinted with a razor-sharp edge, her smile distant and cold, as though it was carved from ice.
Her composure only deepened the tension, making the air feel heavier, colder between them.
“Ava couldn’t even make it home for New Year’s,” Rafael said, his voice darkening. “And it’s all your fault.”
Earlier that year, Rafael had spoken with Ava’s mother and learned that Ava was too afraid to return. Fernanda, who owned a media company, was always on the lookout for any gossip, and Ava feared that if she slipped up again, the consequences would be catastrophic. Because of Fernanda’s actions, Ava’s reputation had been ruined, forcing her into hiding until the dust could settle.
Ava, once full of pride, had been utterly crushed by Fernanda’s actions. Exiled from her home, her dignity trampled under the weight of public criticism.
