Chapter 768
Chapter 768:
Fernanda opened her mouth to respond, but Jordyn quickly interjected, her expression apologetic. “Oh, my mistake. I nearly forgot—you and Bobby are no longer engaged.”
Fernanda’s calm expression remained unchanged, her composure unshaken by the comment.
“I haven’t gone to see Curran,” she said, her voice smooth and unwavering. “But he came to see me.”
Jordyn’s smile froze momentarily, though she recovered swiftly. “Oh? Is that so?”
“Yes,” Fernanda replied nonchalantly. “He even watched our championship game in person and cheered for the team.” A faint smile touched her lips. “Ms. Becker, thanks for the reminder. I should visit Curran soon—it would be impolite not to.”
Jordyn’s thoughts swirled. She knew Curran’s personality well—spirited yet steeped in traditional views. Activities like gaming were far removed from his interests.
Curran had always thought that playing games as a youth was a little counterproductive.
Jordyn hadn’t anticipated that he would attend a gaming event, much less support Fernanda. It was clear that Curran held Fernanda in higher regard than she’d anticipated, enough to bend his own deeply rooted beliefs.
Fernanda’s voice broke through Jordyn’s musings.
“It’s getting late,” she said, glancing at the ornate clock that hung prominently in the room. “I need to find a book, so I’m off. Bye.”
“Okay,” Jordyn replied hastily, her composure quickly restored. “I’m sorry for taking up your time. Incidentally, I’ll be visiting Curran tomorrow. Why don’t we go together? I’m sure he’d appreciate the company.”
Fernanda’s clear, luminous eyes met Jordyn’s, seemingly peeling back the layers of her intentions.
“Sure,” Fernanda agreed with a faint smile. “Let’s go together.”
“Ten in the morning, at the campus entrance,” Jordyn said, her voice carrying an air of practiced confidence.

Fernanda nodded. “That works.”
Jordyn turned and walked away, her silhouette poised, her black heels clicking against the marble floor like a metronome of purpose.
Her invitation could have been genuine, or it might have been a carefully crafted move to assert dominance. Time would reveal which. Whatever Jordyn’s reasons might have been, Fernanda found them irrelevant.
Jordyn was a remarkable woman—sharp as a tack and clever to a fault. If she weren’t, Curran wouldn’t have shown even the slightest interest in her. During Curran’s last birthday banquet, Fernanda had noticed the genuine fondness he seemed to hold for Jordyn, a rare sight for someone usually so shrouded in aloofness.
Fernanda respected Jordyn.
In truth, she admired anyone who was intelligent, capable, independent, and carried themselves with a sense of self-worth, whether they were a man or a woman.
The next morning, precisely at ten, Fernanda arrived at the campus entrance. There stood Jordyn, poised and radiant, waiting for her. Today, Jordyn had chosen a deep blue dress, paired with a delicate necklace that glinted under the sunlight. She exuded grace, every bit the image of someone in control of her world.
