Chapter 945
Chapter 945:
Michelle didn’t know what to say in response.
Her thoughts drifted to the past—she remembered how Kevin used to be openly hostile toward Fernanda. When had that animosity turned into something else entirely?
Michelle hesitated before asking, “Honey, I thought you were going to visit the new company today. What happened? Why are you back already?”
Robert couldn’t bring himself to admit what had really transpired. The memory of being turned away at the door was too humiliating. “There wasn’t much to see,” he said curtly. “I just went to check things out and decided to leave.”
Michelle’s face brightened with curiosity. “And? How was it? What’s the company like? Is it as big as they say?”
Robert waved off her enthusiasm, his tone indifferent. “It’s impressive, for sure. There’s a lot of potential there.” Then, softening his voice, he added, “Isn’t our anniversary coming up soon? Once I’ve officially taken over, I’ll finally get you that sapphire necklace you’ve been talking about for months.”
Hearing this, Michelle’s expression lit up like the sun breaking through clouds.
She threw her arms around Robert’s neck and gushed, “Oh, honey! You’re the best! You always know how to make me happy.”
For months, she’d been eyeing that necklace, but Robert had brushed her off every time, claiming it wasn’t the right moment to splurge.
Now, the thought of finally owning it filled her with delight.
As Michelle lavished Robert with compliments, his earlier anger started to fade. Her affectionate words bolstered his confidence, and soon he felt as though the humiliation at the company gate had never happened. In his mind, he was already the rightful owner of it all.
Buoyed by this mood, Michelle eagerly shared the news with Erika later that day. Erika, upon hearing it, wasted no time cozying up to Robert herself, angling for her own rewards.
Without much thought, Robert handed over his credit card, letting her get whatever she wanted.

The Morgan family’s fortune seemed poised to reach new heights with their recent ventures. Robert felt invincible, and his generosity reflected that confidence.
Erika didn’t hesitate. She grabbed the card and immediately called her friends, organizing a shopping trip that lasted the entire afternoon.
When she finally returned home that evening, the family driver trailed behind her, struggling to carry the mountain of shopping bags. Erika had almost maxed out Robert’s card, but she didn’t care. Her radiant smile spoke volumes about her satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Michelle spent the day waiting for any word about Fernanda or Fulton. When none came, she assumed everything had gone smoothly.
If that was the case, then Fernanda must have fallen into the trap as planned. Whether the affair with Fulton became public knowledge or not, her reputation would be irreparably damaged. Michelle allowed herself a moment to savor the thought.
