Chapter 948
Chapter 948:
“To be fair, Fulton is pretty handsome. Fernanda’s just a young girl—it’s not hard to see why she’d be attracted to a wealthy man.”
“Exactly. We don’t understand the complexities of their world. Let’s not judge without knowing the whole story.”
Naturally, those defending Robert were quickly drowned out by others who demanded accountability.
For the past few days, Fernanda had avoided school, preferring to stay at Cristian’s apartment.
Her phone was switched off, and despite being at the heart of the media storm, she acted like none of it was her concern.
However, Fernanda had still caught wind of something: the programming competition they had been preparing for had secured third place.
The competition had one grand prize, two second prizes, and three third prizes. Hundreds of teams had participated, from industry professionals to students from prestigious universities. Securing third place was a major accomplishment.
The school and department had celebrated the achievement. Aidan, the department head, was practically ecstatic.
In the midst of all the turmoil, this was a rare moment of joy.
After a few days of silence, Fernanda finally turned her phone back on, only to be overwhelmed by a flood of missed calls and messages.
There were concerned texts from friends, calls from nosy reporters who had somehow gotten her number, and, most frequently, calls from Robert and Ector.
This time, however, Fernanda didn’t turn it off right away. Two minutes later, Robert’s name flashed on the screen again. She hit the button to answer.
Perhaps because she had avoided answering his calls so many times, Robert was momentarily taken aback when she finally picked up. Then, a few seconds later, his voice exploded from the speaker. “Do you have any idea what you’re doing?”

Fernanda lowered her lashes and replied, her voice steady but tinged with amusement, “I know exactly what I’m doing.”
Her tone was even, but a small, joyful smile played on her lips. “I want you to pay for what you’ve done.”
Robert’s fury reached new heights. “How could you do this to me? I’m your father, you ungrateful little brat!”
Fernanda’s smile widened, her voice dripping with irony. “Oh, you still call yourself my father?” Her expression was one of detached amusement. “Sorry, but your actions have made you a stranger to me.”
On the other end, someone—probably Ector or Michelle—was trying to calm Robert down.
Robert’s voice dropped, though the anger still laced his words. “Tell me, what do you want? Name your terms, and we’ll settle this quietly.”
