Chapter 995
Chapter 995:
Ashley’s glare was sharp enough to cut through steel. Curran’s bravado crumbled instantly, his imposing demeanor shrinking like a scolded child.
Ashley continued her conversation with Fernanda, their discussion flowing easily. As the evening approached, Ashley suggested they all head out for dinner, offering to treat Fernanda to a meal.
Outside the private lounge, a crowd still lingered. Many eagerly approached to greet Fernanda the moment they spotted her stepping out.
Among them, she noticed the man who had previously mocked her. His demeanor had shifted completely—his earlier disdain now replaced by a wary caution.
Fernanda responded with a warm smile, unbothered by his previous behavior.
Ashley’s three bodyguards efficiently cleared a path for their group, ensuring they could leave without being overwhelmed by the crowd.
She chose a refined restaurant with a rustic charm.
The establishment featured a sprawling courtyard, its interior dotted with small bungalows. Each group of diners had their own private room, offering a level of seclusion perfect for a relaxed evening.
Ashley, discovering that Fernanda could hold her liquor, grew even more delighted. She made it her mission to drink heartily, declaring that no one would leave sober.
Curran, observing Ashley’s unusually good mood, was struck by how long it had been since he’d seen her this cheerful.
Their divorce had taken place over a decade ago. Whenever they crossed paths in the years since, Ashley had kept her distance, maintaining a frosty demeanor and making no effort to disguise her disdain. Smiles, let alone warmth, had been rare.
Tonight, however, thanks to Fernanda, Curran finally had a chance to exchange a few words with her—words that weren’t met with cold indifference.
By the end of the meal, Ashley had indulged in more than her fair share of drinks. Her cheeks were tinged with a rosy flush, her typically sharp demeanor softened into a faintly tipsy warmth.

Catching Curran’s pleading glances, Fernanda and Bobby took the hint and left the room, giving him an opportunity to speak with Ashley in private.
Fernanda herself had enjoyed a few drinks, though her tolerance kept her well below the threshold of drunkenness. Her cheeks, however, carried a soft, pink glow that seemed to catch the golden hues of the corridor’s warm lighting.
“Well, things should go more smoothly for you now.” Leaning casually against the wooden railing, Bobby glanced at her, his expression relaxed and amused. “I knew my grandmother would like you, but even I didn’t expect her to take to you this much. With her on your side, my grandfather wouldn’t dare give you a hard time.”
Fernanda pressed her body against the railing. Her narrowed eyes settled on Bobby, her tone dry yet teasing. “Oh? Is that so? Do you really think your grandfather, who despises Cristian to the core, would change his mind just because of your grandmother?”
