But that night she saw the lock screen was just a solid color.

That’s ridiculous.

Roderick had a phone with dual systems.

My heart felt like it was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

Andrea’s fingertips were trembling slightly.

She really hated him!

Hate that he just stood there and watched me being humiliated

without doing anything.

But why is he now taking care of her so meticulously?

Why could he still look at her with those loving eyes?

“What do you want to watch? I’ll help you find it.” Roderick sat

down by her bed, just the right distance to not make her feel

crowded, but still able to take care of her needs at any time.

Andrea shook her head, and her finger swiped through the

contacts.

She didn’t know what she was looking for, maybe just wanted

to confirm that terrible guess.

In the communication records, Leonard’s name was

prominently listed, and the call was made in the afternoon of

the day of the incident.

A sharp pain spread from my chest to my whole body.

“Andie?”

Roderick’s voice suddenly got tense.

He reached out to grab his phone, but froze when he saw the

expression on her face.

Andrea kept scrolling and found a message from Matilda:

“Roderick, I just wanted to scare her, I wouldn’t really hurt her.

You know, she’s not good enough for you.”

Sent time: One hour after the incident.

The phone slipped from Andrea’s hand and landed on the

hospital bed with a dull thud.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m tired, I want to take a rest, you go out first.”

Faced with Andrea’s indifference, Roderick half knelt by the

bed, trying to use his best tenderness to impress Andrea.

“Andie, don’t worry, big brother will definitely help you get

revenge, okay? Those who bullied you, big brother won’t let

them off easy!”

Andrea felt dizzy for a moment.

The man who knelt in front of her in painful repentance, who

was exactly like the gentle and considerate Roderick in her

memory, but now Andrea only feels hatred and fear towards

him.

Roderick suddenly raised his hand and slapped himself hard, so

hard that Andrea was startled.

“My brother is such a pain in the neck…”

His left face quickly swelled up, but he didn’t seem to feel any

pain. “Andie, you can hit me, scold me, anything, just don’t

ignore me like this…”

Andrea turned her face away.

She should have felt angry, should have told him to get lost, but

all she felt was endless exhaustion and sadness.

covers, turning her back to Roderick.

Roderick looked at the figure curled up in bed, his voice soft as a

sigh, “Andie, it will be okay soon.“”

After the door closed softly, Andrea finally let herself cry

silently.

She tightly gripped the corner of the patient gown in her hand,

her knuckles turning white.

In my mind, I keep flashing back to Roderick’s cold eyes when

he was watching the surveillance footage, and his pained

expression when he was confessing just now.

Which one is the real him?

Can she still trust her own judgment?

Outside the window, the night gradually enveloped the city.

Andrea fell asleep in tears, dreaming of Roderick’s eyes, full of

contradictions – love and indifference, tenderness and cruelty,

all intertwined, leaving her with no escape.
