Chapter 207
The confrontation had escalated fast. and now with the looks of things, there's going to be a more serious violence.
Mia clung tightly to Jaden, her small arms trembling. "I'm scared, Papa,” she whispered, burying her face in his chest.
Jaden wrapped one arm around her protectively and glanced at Selena and the others. His voice was calm, steady. "There's an amusement park on level nine. Selena, Vane, Nora-take Mia there. Let me handle this."
Selena hesitated. Her eyes searched his face, catching that familiar flicker of quiet fury behind his composed exterior. She didn't want to leave, not with wolves circling.
But Vane and Nora understood immediately. The Divine Pill didn't come from them. It was from Jaden's Master's lineage. The decision belonged to him.
More importantly, if they stayed, Williams would twist the narrative-accuse them of abandoning Xander, of being heartless and unfilial. That kind of moral blackmail was exactly the stunt the Verricks would pull.
Nora leaned in close to Jaden. "Make them regret it.”
Jaden gave a curt nod. "Go."
As they turned to leave, Williams barked out, “Don't you dare walk away from me!”
Vane shot him a cold look but said nothing. Selena paused, still reluctant, but Jaden touched her wrist.
"Go with them," he said, not taking his eyes off Williams and Daniel. "I've got this."
Reluctantly, Selena followed, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she disappeared into the distance with the others and Mia.
Williams stepped forward, seething. "Where do you think you're going? You think you can just brush me off?"
"The pill's with me," Jaden said flatly, holding out his hand to reveal the Divine Pill nestled in his palm. His voice was quiet but carried weight. "They have nothing to do with this anymore. You want it? Talk to me."
That shifted the dynamic immediately. Williams' eyes locked on the pill like a starving man eyeing his last meal.
Jaden didn't flinch. His stance was solid. No arrogance. Just unshakable confidence.
"You," Williams growled, his tone sharpening. "Hand it over.”
Selena, who had lingered just out of sight, stepped back into view. "You've
got some nerve, Williams,
You trashed the pill like it was.
garbage. Now you want it back?"
Daniel moved forward, cracking his knuckles, but Williams raised a hand to stop
him.
"So what if we threw it away?"
Williams said, voice dripping with entitlement. "It was a gift Once. given it's ours. We can eat it crush it, piss on it if we want. That's not your business."
Jaden let out a short breath through his nose, borderline amused. "That how you define ownership? Based on who trashes things best?"
Williams took a step closer. "You're getting one last offer. A hundred grand, cash in hand. You give me that pill, and we all walk away."
Jaden stared at him like he'd just insulted his intelligence.
"A hundred grand," he repeated, his tone bone-dry. "For a pill that goes for over ten million. You think that's a deal?"
“It's more than you're worth,” Daniel sneered.
Jaden's eyes flicked toward him. "Funny. That's exactly what your girlfriend said about you before she called me."
