Chapter 30
Julie rushed to Kelvin and scooped the crying boy into her
arms, her voice soft and shaking.
"Don't cry, Kelvin. Aunty's here... shhh, it's okay."
The boy buried his face in her shoulder, sobbing hard.
"You-" Martha's voice broke as she pointed at Greg, trembling in rage. "How dare you hit my son!"
She tried to push herself off the bed, fury burning in her sick eyes, but her body betrayed her. A harsh cough wracked her chest and she collapsed back with a groan of pain. Jaden's fists clenched, but his eyes remained cold. Calculating.
Mathew, watching from the corner, exploded in frustration. "You coward! Are you just going to stand there and watch someone disrespect your aunty like this? Do something!" Straightening his back and puffing out his chest, Mathew took a step toward Greg.
"Hey, Greg," he said, trying to sound firm. "Leave now. Don't cause trouble. You're not welcome here."
SLAP!
Greg's hand crashed into Mathew's cheek, snapping his head sideways with a sickening sound. Mathew dropped like a sack, sprawling on the floor.
"You fucking idiot," Greg snarled. "Who the hell do you
think you are to talk to me like that?"
He stepped over Mathew's writhing form and spat. "You're lucky we're blood, or I'd have ended your pathetic life."
He turned-only to walk chest-first into someone solid.
Greg looked up slowly. Jaden towered over him by an inch, his expression unreadable but dangerous. 1
Greg blinked, briefly caught off guard by the hard look in the younger man's eyes.
"Move," Greg barked. "Before I knock your teeth out."
Jaden didn't flinch. "Who's the mutt barking in my face?"
Greg's eyes widened. "What did you just say?"
"I said "Jaden took a step forward, his voice like cold steel. "you're barking up the wrong tree, dog.'
"You bastard!" Greg swung a leg toward Jaden's ribs, but Jaden side-
stepped without effort.
CRACK!
Greg's shin collided with the heavy wooden table behind Jaden. He screamed, hopping on one foot. "AHH! My leg! You piece of-"
Furious, he reached into his jacket and pulled out a dagger.
Julie gasped, clutching Kelvin tighter.
"Jaden, watch out!" Martha croaked in panic.
Even Mathew, still sprawled on the floor and rubbing his bruised cheek, thered pale This guy's insane That blade's real... Jaden's going to get killed."
But Jaden didn't move.
Greg lunged with a wild yell. "DIE!"
In one swift motion, Jaden stepped in, caught Greg's wrist mid-
air, and twisted it violently.
CRUNCH!
The dagger clattered to the floor. Greg barely had time to scream before Jaden's palm smashed into his face, backhanding him with such forge that he flew across the room like
a rag doll, crashing into the wooden door and leaving a crack in it as he hit the ground groaning.
Julie blinked in disbelief-but she was smiling. She knew that was nothing compared to what her
brother could really do. She hasnet
already witnessed how strong he was when he beat up Crusher Kane and his men.
Greg rolled on the ground, coughing blood.
Jaden approached slowly, his tone calm, but his words sharp as knives.

the pharmacy. Get Aunt Martha's fever meds. Come back, kneel by the door, and wait until I tell you to stand. Or you won't leave here walking." Greg snarled through the blood in his mouth. "You... think this is over? I'll come back with the papers. This house is mine! No one can stop me!"
