Chapter 718

"Natalie, you were the one who cheated. Why, why should it be me apologizing to you and begging for forgiveness, instead of you..."

"Mr. Amos, are you saying your punishment against me isn't enough?"

"Not enough."

"You can continue. But I will fight back."

"On your own?"

"What other choice do I have?"

"Heh, you think Marico Stapleton can protect you, don't you? In my eyes, he's nothing!" Mentioning Marico made Hamilton lose all reason. He shot to his feet. "He's a complete and utter bastard. And you had a child with him? What, are you planning to marry him too?"

"You think Marico is a bastard, that's your opinion. In my eyes, he's at least better than you!"

"You're comparing him to me?"

Natalie took a deep breath, overwhelmed by a deep sense of helplessness. There was no making Hamilton understand.

"Hamilton, take your revenge if you want. Do whatever you want."

Natalie pushed past Hamilton and strode out.

"Natalie, if you just beg me, I... I can forget about your affair and give us a fresh start!" Hamilton finally blurted out the words. The moment he said them, he felt as if a weight had been lifted.

Six years had passed, and he had to admit it-he still loved Natalie.

Natalie did stop in her tracks. Hamilton let out a low laugh.

"I knew it. You still love me. I'm willing to let the past go, but you have to cut all ties with Marico. And Kristin-if she's my daughter, of course I'll be happy. I'll make up for the six years of fatherly love she's missed. But if she's Marico's child, I want you to give her to him and promise never to see either of them again."

"Do that, and we'll go get our marriage license tomorrow."

Natalie was so dumbfounded she could only laugh. Where did he get the nerve to think he mattered more to her than Kristin?

"Hamilton, if you have the time, go see a psychiatrist."

She let out a scornful laugh and continued walking out.

Hamilton froze. What did she just say? See a psychiatrist? Was she calling him crazy? She had refused him!

He shook his head in disbelief. How could she refuse him? Had she not heard him clearly? He said he would forget her affair, said he wanted to remarry her!

She was supposed to throw herself into his arms, tears of gratitude streaming down her face, telling him she still loved him, that she'd been waiting so long to hear those words. Then she would promise to stay away from Marico. But she didn't Say any of that. She just told him he was sick.

Maybe she didn't hear him properly?

Hamilton watched Natalie's retreating figure-so resolute, never looking back-and

knew she had heard every word. And she had truly refused him.

She didn't love him anymore.

It was real.

Marico's Saturday mornings used to go like this: waking up with a beautiful woman in his arms, coaxing him into some morning exercise. After a satisfying round, he'd take a shower then have breakfast with her. Maybe they'd tumble back into bed afterward, stay there until evening, then head to a club and party until the early hours of Sunday.

That was a fulfilling weekend. But now he lay in bed, alone in the empty

room. The space beside him was

colde clea

proof that be hadn't

picked up any woman last night...

Knock, knock.

Someone knocked on the door from outside.

"Uncle, I'm hungry! Hurry up and make breakfast!"

Marico let out a long sigh. No woman. Just one chubby little girl.

He called back to Kristin while pulling out his phone to text Natalie: "I've decided I'm

going to sell your daughter in a bit. Hahaha."

Natalie replied: "She can't have milk in the morning. Make her some porridge."
