Chapter 721
Marico Stapleton was so frustrated he could have punched a hole in the wall. He already regretted his choices, silently begging Theodore Stapleton to just fire him and kick him out of the company. But looking at Theodore's relaxed posture, it was obvious the man had no intention of doing so.
Was he destined to be a corporate slave for the rest of his life?
Just as Marico was wallowing in his misery, he saw Hamilton Amos step out of a car and walk straight toward Kristin.
He immediately stood up and marched over there.
Before getting out of the car, Hamilton had received a call from his mother. Though she didn't say it outright, she strongly suspected Natalie Taylor had lied to them, and that Kristin was actually his daughter.
He had started to suspect the same. If that were the case, he needed a paternity test. This time, he would oversee it personally, refusing to let anyone else handle it.
The little girl was sitting on the grass eating a cookie, shouting at the two brothers chasing each other in the distance.
"Hubert, run faster! Julian is going to catch you!"
"Julian is running so fast, it's like he's flying!"
After cheering, Kristin took another bite of her cookie. Feeling a bit thirsty, she reached for her thermos, but a large hand grabbed it first. The man unscrewed the lid and handed it back to her.
Kristin looked up. As soon as she recognized his face, she pouted.
"I can open it myself. I don't need your help."
Kristin snatched the bottle back and turned her body away, completely ignoring Hamilton.
Hamilton frowned. "You really don't like me, do you?"
"You're Queena's dad. I don't like Queena, so I don't like you."
"I'm not Queena's dad. I..." Hamilton didn't know how to introduce himself, but the
title 'Queena's dad' made him deeply uncomfortable.
"I did some bad things to you in the past. Can you forgive me?"
Kristin knitted her small brows and turned back to look at Hamilton. She didn't know why this adult was suddenly apologizing to her Her mother had taught her not to be petty, to let go of anger, and to forgive others.
"I don't forgive you."
Penelope had also told her that some people simply didn't deserve forgiveness.
Hamilton felt a wave of defeat. "It makes me really sad to hear you say that."
"Oh. I don't even know you. If you're sad, then be sad."
"Alright. I'll find a way to make up for
the pain your Fcaused you and earn
for
orgiveness.
For now, could you give
me a few strands of your hair?"
"Why do you want my hair?" Kristin instinctively covered her head.
"Just a few strands."
Hamilton reached for Kristin's head, but before he could touch her, someone lunged from behind and shoved him away.
"Hamilton, I'm warning you. Don't touch her!"
Hamilton turned around and saw Marico. His expression darkened instantly.
"Marico, this has nothing to do with you. Get the hell out of here!"
"Who the hell do you think you are, telling me to get out!"
Marico had a volatile temper and was always ready to throw a punch. His fists were already clenched, but were out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Kristín looking terrified. He stowly loosened his grip. But in that split second of hesitation, Hamilton swung a fist right at his face.
The blow carried all of Hamilton's pent-up rage. The impact left Marico tasting
copper as he stumbled back two steps to regain his footing.
"Ah! You're a bad man! Don't bully him!"
Kristin burst into tears. Terrified but brave, she ran in front of Marico, trying to use her tiny body to shield him from Hamilton.
The sight only provoked Hamilton further. He bypassed Kristin and lunged at Marico again.
