Theodore scoffed. Although her words made his heart flutter a little, he couldn't resist a biting comeback.

"That just means you aren't blind."

"I'll accept that as a compliment."

Theodore finally couldn't hold back a laugh. "Don't think I'll forgive you just like that! For abandoning me back then and forcing the divorce, I'm going to settle that score with you slowly!"

"Oh." Penelope deliberately pouted.

Seeing her like this, Theodore's face immediately darkened. "You're still not satisfied? Are you thinking of running away again?"

"I was actually thinking..."

"What?"

"Since you'll never forgive me, why don't we just stay like this forever? You can be my male nanny for the rest of your life."

"In your dreams!"

With that, Theodore hung up the phone.

Penelope's heart swelled with secret delight. As she walked into the parking lot, she heard a burst of laughter. Squinting into the distance, she spotted a woman in a red evening gown cornered by three men.

"Hey gorgeous, the three of us want to buy you a drink. What do you say?"

"We'll make sure you have a great time tonight."

"And then we'll take real good care of you."

From their sloppy clothes and aggressive posture, these three were obvious street

thugs. They blocked the woman's path, flashing creepy grins.

"If you don't leave me alone, I'm calling the police," the woman said coldly.

"The cops? Ha! You think we're scared?"

The beautiful woman didn't waste her breath. She pulled her phone out of her purse, but before she could unlock it, the tallest of the three snatched it from her hand and smashed it hard against the concrete.

"To tell you the truth, we really are terrified."

He cornered her, grabbing her purse and tossing it to the ground as well, before reaching for her arm. Terrified, she stumbled backward. Glancing around and seeing no one, she spun around to run, but the men grabbed her from behind.

"Stop playing the innocent card. Why the hell are you dressed like this in the middle of the night if not to seduce us!"

"Or maybe you're into playing the good girl forced into a corner?"

"Sure, we'll play along!"

Seeing the three men form a tight circle around her, panic finally set in.

"Don't touch me! Get the hell away from me!"

"This spot sucks. No booze, no food, and definitely no bed. Let's take you back to our place!"

One of the men grabbed her wrist, yanking her toward a battered van parked nearby.

The woman fought with everything she had, but her strength was no match for three grown men.

was dragged all the way to the side of the van.

"I'd suggest you let her go and get the hell out of here!"

Penelope stepped out of the shadows, walking straight up to the group.

The three men jumped at the sudden voice. But when they realized it was just

another woman standing alone, their fear vanished.

"Well, look at our luck today. The beauties are just lining up and delivering themselves."

The tall one took two steps toward Penelope. "Tsk, tsk. This one's even prettier."

Penelope scoffed coldly. She pulled out her own phone, waving it provocatively in front of the man's face. His eyes turned vicious as he lunged to snatch it, but Penelope easily dodged.

Gritting his teeth, the man charged again. Penelope pivoted, planted her feet, and

delivered a brutal kick right into his ribs.

Unable to keep his balance, the man stumbled and crashed to the ground.

"Damn it, this bitch has some fight in her!"

Seeing their buddy take a hit, the other two rushed forward to help.

It had been a while since she last practiced hand-to-hand combat. Penelope launched a flying kick into one guy's chest, then grabbed the other'sarm, leveraging his weight to flip him över her shoulder and slam him onto the asphalt.

The three men lay stunned for a moment before scrambling to their feet.

"We were going easy on you just now, but are you sure you want to stick your nose in this?"

Penelope's lips curled. "I should be asking you that. Are you sure you want to keep fighting me?"
