"Are you out of your minds? Why would you bring a kid here? You..."

"Mr. Stapleton, I insisted on coming. I haven't seen you in days, and I missed you so much!"

Marico Stapleton snapped, "Go home! I don't want to see you!"

Kristin's feelings were immediately hurt by the shout.

"Mr. Stapleton, do you not like me anymore? Is it because you were sick and I didn't visit you in the hospital? I already talked to Uncle Handsome, and he promised to take me to see you on Saturday. Please don't be mad at me, okay?"

Seeing Marico's expression soften, Penelope Laurier rushed over to Kristin and whispered, "Keep crying, Kristin. Cry louder."

Kristin always listened to Penelope. Even though she didn't understand why, she let out a loud wail and started bawling.

"You really do hate me now! I'm so sad! I like you so much, but you don't like me anymore!"

Natalie Taylor chimed in, "You bastard, are you going to kill someone right in front of Kristin?"

Those words hit hard. Marico loosened his death grip on Charley Sargent.

Natalie intentionally let go of Kristin, and the little girl ran crying toward Marico.

Seeing the child rushing at him, Marico quickly tossed the knife aside, blocking the blood-soaked Charley from her view. He was furious and irritable, but faced with a little girl crying about how much she liked him, he was genuinely afraid of scaring her.

"Natalie, you're absolutely ruthless!"

Charley was rushed to the hospital. Given the gravity of the situation, Marico had to make a trip to the police station. However, since Charley had thrown the first punch at the hospital, the Sargent family was too afraid to offend the Stapleton family. They brushed it off as a misunderstanding and chose not to press charges.

Marico found himself admitted to the hospital once again. His ribs were truly going through hell, breaking time and time again. The doctors were speechless, claiming they had never seen a patient so eager to push medical limits.

Kristin was taken home by Penelope, leaving Marico to sulk in his hospital bed. He had been on the verge of finishing things, only to have his plans ruined by them. Of course he was furious.

Theodore Stapleton didn't have time

to deal with their mess, as Jonas and Mrs. Stapleton arrived after hearing the news. To prevent them from aggravating Marico further, Theodore intercepted the couple and personally escorted them back home.

Now, only Natalie remained in the hospital room. She was even angrier than Marico.

"Do you have any brains at all? You wanted to kill a man just because you took a beating? Will you only be satisfied when you've completely ruined your own life?"

Marico glared at her. "My business has nothing to do with you."

"I couldn't care less about you, but you ended up in the hospital because you were helping me. I'm responsible for you!"

"Screw your responsibility! I don't want it!"

"You're taking it whether you want it or not!" Natale pointed a stern finger at him. "Whatever stupid things you want to do save them until you're healed and discharged After that, we're done, and you can go crazy. Whether you commit arson or stab yourself, I won't care!"

Marico was blind with rage. "I need your permission to do what I want?"

"Exactly! You need my permission!"

Furious, Marico turned his back to her, refusing to engage any further.

Natalie took a few deep breaths to calm down. Suddenly remembering something,

she sat on the edge of the bed.

"There's one thing I don't get. Charley hit you, and you wanted to kill him. But Hamilton Amos hit you too. Why didn't you threaten to kill him?”
