Natalie and Kristin had dinner before heading back to the apartment, but Marico was still nowhere to be seen.

Natalie helped Kristin with her homework for a while before tucking her into bed.

"Marico always tells me a story before I go to sleep."

Natalie's mouth twitched. "You managed to fall asleep just fine before he started telling you stories."

"But Marico said princesses need a bedtime story to fall asleep."

"Nonsense."

"Mommy, I really can't sleep."

Left with no other choice, Natalie grabbed a fairy tale book from the shelf. She barely got through the first sentence before Kristin interrupted.

"That's for babies. I'm not a baby anymore."

Natalie raised an eyebrow. "Then what do you want to hear?"

"I want to hear about the time Marico got into a street fight with those gangsters! He's so tough he fought ten guys all by himself! He didn't even get hurt, except for when he got slashed with a knife!"

Natalie gritted her teeth. That bastard was actually filling a child's head with garbage like that.

"Last night, he was telling me about the time he and his friends went smashing up a casino in Vegas! It was amazing! He promised he'd finish the story tonight."

Natalie snapped the fairy tale book shut and gave a cold scoff. "Go to sleep!"

Kristin tossed and turned for a while, but eventually, she drifted off.

Natalie glanced at the clock. It was past eleven, and a certain someone still hadn't come home. Forcing down her frustration, she lay down on the edge of the bed. Just as she was about to fall asleep, she heard the front door open.

Footsteps grew louder, approaching the room before her door was pushed open.

A dark silhouette drifted toward the bed, stood there for a moment, and then leaned

in, bringing a strong stench of alcohol with him.

"What are you doing?" Natalie demanded coldly.

Marico smirked. "You're still awake?"

"Get out."

Marico opened his mouth to reply but let out a loud hiccup instead.

"I just wanted to check on Kristin."

"You reek. Go take a shower!"

Marico paused for a second, let out a low chuckle, and suddenly pinned Natalie to the mattress.

"Are you jealous?"

Natalie shoved hard against his chest, but he only pressed his weight down harder, his hands sliding under her clothes.

"Marico!"

"I didn't sleep with her."

"You don't need to explain anything to me. I don't care!"

"But I really want to. If you don't want me touching other women, you have to let me touch you."

"Let me go!"

Natalie tried to kick him, but he trapped herdeg with his own. He lowered his head and crushed his lips against hers, completely ignoring her struggles. The kiss deepened forcefully as his hands

roamed lower.

He was acting like a total animal!

Furious, Natalie bit his lip hard. When he flinched in pain, she brought her hand up

and slapped him across the face.

Smack.

The sudden strike caught Marico completely off guard. He froze, and then pure anger flared in his eyes.

"If you won't let me touch you, why the hell do you care what I do!"

"When did I ever care about what you do!"

"You literally just told me to take a shower!"

"Because you're filthy!"

"Fine. You don't care? Then I'm going back out to find a woman right now!"

"Do whatever you want!"

Marico's anger boiled over. He shot up from the bed, glaring down at her. Seeing her look of total indifference, he clenched his jaw and stormed out of the room.

At the loud slam of the front door, Natalie gritted her teeth in rage.

Marico didn't come home that night. He didn't come home the next day either. By the time evening rolled around, the production crew was blowing up Natalie's phone demanding she return to the set.

Desperate, Natalie had no choice but to call Marico. Lola answered the phone.

"I'll text you an address. Come find him, if you have the guts."

Lola used Marico's phone to send a location. It was pinned to an old, rundown apartment complex on the edge of town.

Assuming it was Lola's place,

Natalie grabbed Kristin, hailed a cab, and headed straight there. The complex had an open layout, allowing the cab to drive right in, but the buildings were a maze of twisting paths and shadowy corners, completely devoid of foot traffic.
