“Not worried. Prepared. If someone is tracking us, they’ll try to interfere with tomorrow’s revelation. They’ll try to stop justice from being served.” The Guardian’s voice carried menace. “We need to make sure that doesn’t happen.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean we eliminate any obstacles to exposing the truth. Anyone who tries to stop us from revealing Victoria Kane’s crimes becomes part of the conspiracy to cover up mass murder.”
Stefan felt sick as he realized the Guardian was talking about Camille, her parents, and potentially even himself. This wasn’t just about revenge anymore—it was about destroying anyone who got in the way.
“I don’t want anyone else to get hurt,” Alexander said firmly.
“Sometimes justice requires sacrifice. Your uncle sacrificed his life rather than live with what Victoria Kane did to him. Are you willing to sacrifice less than he did?”
Alexander was quiet for a long moment, staring at the phone in his hands. Stefan could see the war happening inside him—the battle between his love for Camille and his need to honor his uncle’s memory.

The Guardian turned to leave, his dark coat billowing in the wind off the water.
“Wait,” Alexander called. “What happens after tomorrow? After Victoria is arrested and the truth comes out?”
The Guardian paused without turning around. “Then you decide what kind of man you want to be. The kind who lets killers hide behind wealth and political connections, or the kind who ensures justice is served, no matter the personal cost.”
Stefan watched the Guardian disappear back into the shadows between the storage buildings. He waited until Alexander had also left before emerging from his hiding place, his mind racing with everything he had witnessed.
The Guardian’s face remained hidden, his identity still a mystery. But Stefan had captured something potentially more valuable—the entire plan to destroy Victoria and the Lewis family in less than twenty-four hours.
He checked his phone’s recording, making sure the audio and video were clear despite the poor lighting. The electronic voice distortion would make identification difficult, but maybe technical analysis could reveal something useful.
