Chapter 177
However, when Angela recalled the last time she delivered food to him, she remembered that it didn't end well as Elena was there.
She then thought of Erica and had a feeling that she hadn't seen her in quite a
while.
"Where's that secretary of yours named Ms. Carrey?" Angela asked.
"She's been transferred. Why? Is there a problem?" Dexter replied.
Of course, there was no problem-it had nothing to do with her anyway.
...
When Angela reached DawnStar Co., the first thing she did upon arriving was head to Callum's office, where she presented a bouquet of flowers to her dear boss.
"What's this?" Callum put down his work and smiled. "Good news? Or have you reached your goal ahead of schedule and are ready to rejoin our company?"
Angela had never seen such an open and cheerful Callum before. She couldn't help but laugh at his response.
"You're a genius-you guessed it." Angela gave him a respectful bow. "Thank you, my dearest boss. Please accept this bouquet as a token of my gratitude."
As Callum's smile widened, he stepped forward to help her up. "Thank you for the thank-you, but I can't take all the credit. Someone else kept nagging me about it, and that's why I made the decision."
"Who would that be?" Angela asked, looking puzzled.
After work, Angela headed straight to the agreed meeting place.
Finn was already waiting for her.
"Wow, you're here early! Are you hungry? Why didn't you order something first?" Angela asked with a smile.
She had been in an exceptionally good mood these past few days. Her steps felt light as she walked.
Seeing her cheerful demeanor, Finn couldn't help but smile too. "I just got here. This restaurant is supposed to be pretty good. I've already ordered two of their signature dishes. You should see if you want anything else."
When the server came over, Angela added three more dishes and a soup to the order.
"Mr. Snowden told me everything. It's all thanks to you that I managed to pull this off. Thank you so much! This meal is on me, and after this, let's go for a stroll. It's been ages since I've had any free time." Angela spoke spiritedly.
Finn was pouring her water when he heard this. His expression froze slightly. "That was nothing. I didn't actually do much."
Angela laughed heartily. "How could
You have no idea
that be how much your words mean to me. I've finally gotten my revenge, and I've secured more than half of what I wanted. As for the rest, I can take my time and work toward it step by step."
She poured him a cup of tea. "Regardless, I'm just really grateful to you."
Finn gave her a faint smile, his gaze carrying a hint of complexity.
"If you really want to thank me, then give me your entire afternoon," Finn said.
"No problem. You make the plans," Angela replied.
After finishing their meal, Finn suggested they take photos together.
Angela was amused and exasperated. "What kind of request is that? Why photos?"
With his arms crossed, Finn strolled beside her. "To capture the moment, of course. You and I... We're going to grow old one day, you know."
"Sir, could you move a bit closer to the lady? Don't be nervous, sir. Look toward the camera. Ma'am, lift your chin slightly."
The photographer was very patient, correcting their poses bit by bit.
Finn's shoulder brushed against Angela's. Through the thin fabric, he could barely feel the warmth of her body.
This was the closest they had ever been.
Finn's heartbeat quickened, but his chest felt inexplicably heavy.
"Sir, look at the camera." Hearing the photographer's prompt, Finn quickly lifted his head. Just as the shutter clicked, the moment was captured.
"Oh, ma'am, your expression was absolutely perfect, but the gentleman looks a bit
stiff. Come take a look," the photographer said with a smile.
Angela quickly walked over, and when she saw the two of them on the screen, she burst into laughter.
