Chapter 249

As Elena's words fell, everyone in the room looked flabbergasted-including Angela.

She had never expected that Elena would go as far as confessing her feelings in public upon being driven into a corner.

Elena ranted, "Dexter, can't you open your eyes and see who's truly the best for you? You never thought much of her before, so why are you—"

"Shut up!" Dexter's face contorted with fury.

He angrily glared at Elena, who was running her mouth, then gave a firm order to Rocky. "What are you waiting for? Take her away!"

Rocky called two men in to assist him. Together, they dragged Elena out of the hospital room.

Finally, the farce came to an end.

After the crowd dispersed, only Angela and Dexter remained in the room.

"What do you plan to do with her?" Angela asked, standing by the floor-to-ceiling

window as she watched Mia and Zayn leave.

She was kind of surprised by the turn of events.

Dexter responded simply, "I've asked Rocky to handle it."

What he essentially meant was that Elena would be sent to the police.

"Can you really bring yourself to do that?" Angela heaved a long sigh.

Back then, Elena had been the woman of the hour in Dexter's social circle. Many people even thought she was the true Mrs. Bamford.

Angela used to stew over that constantly. But now, she felt nothing at all.

"She did wrong, so she has to pay the price," Dexter said, retracting his gaze. He suppressed the frustration that bubbled in his chest.

He could see it clearly now-Angela didn't care how he felt. But he couldn't just let that go.

"You should get going. I need some time alone," he said.

"Perfect. I need to head back and grab some daily essentials. The doctor said you'll be stuck here for at least a week." Angela stretched lazily grabbed her bag, and turned to leave.

Dexter froze. "Why would you need daily essentials?" Angela was rendered speechless. Had he hit his head too hard?

"For my own use, obviously. There's nothing here. I can't just go about without washing my face, brushing my teeth, or changing clothes, can I?" she responded in exasperation.

Dexter stared at her for a moment before the realization sank in-she was planning to stay at the hospital to take care of him. Thus, she might be staying there for an entire week.

Dexter was pleased with this arrangement. He waved his hand casually and said, "Get going, then."

That evening, Angela returned with Fiona. They had a meal together and bought Dexter some plain risotto.

"This tastes awful," Dexter complained after one spoonful. "From now on, cook for me."

"Alright," Angela agreed without hesitation.

Fiona was stunned to see this scene. "Wait a second. Are you two back together? Why are you humoring his request?"

Angela pursed her lips and replied, "Don't overthink it. He saved my life, so I'm just returning the favor."

...

The next morning, Angela went to the market and bought a bunch of fresh vegetables and ingredients. She was ready to show off her cooking skills.

"Here, drink this nourishing soup. I used over ten medicinal herbs to make it. It smells amazing."

Angela placed a bowl of soup in front of Dexter, looking extremely confident.

Dexter hesitated for a moment. He sniffed the soup and found that it actually smelled pretty good. So, he had two bowls of the soup in a row.

"Where did you learn to make this?" he asked.

Angela was cleaning up the table. She simply replied, "I got the recipe online and followed the steps exactly. Don't worry, it's not poisoned."

Besides, he'd already finished it. So, it was too late to regret drinking the soup

now.
