Chapter 272
"Ms. Graham, Mr. Bamford has dispatched 50 employees, and they've already started working," Clara said excitedly on the phone.
Angela was taken aback upon hearing that Dexter had sent a team to assist her. However, despite the large number of people he'd sent, the factory equipment remained insufficient.
"Ms. Graham, Mr. Bamford has also sent us a batch of new equipment, which is currently being unloaded," Clara added, her voice brimming with emotion. She was overwhelmed with joy and was fighting back tears.
Angela stood silently in the corridor, feeling dizzy. It felt surreal that Dexter had actually stepped in to assist her and resolved the pressing issue troubling her within mere minutes.
How had he suddenly become so kind? Angela found herself utterly perplexed. She was lost in thought for a long time.
At that moment, an overwhelming fatigue washed over her. She felt lightheaded, and her limbs were numb. An intense drowsiness began to set in.
"What's going on? You're not going out again?" Dexter asked with a smirk, leaning halfway out of the ward.
Angela caught sight of his smiling face and immediately thought he looked exceptionally kind and amiable. She blinked in surprise. "What made you decide to help me all of a sudden?"
Dexter crossed his arms and looked at her calmly. "What do you mean by helping you all of a sudden? Haven't I helped before?"
Before he could finish his sentence, he noticed Angela's frail form trembling unsteadily.
Angela was taken aback by her vulnerability. While it seemed like a minor issue on the surface, she felt as if she'd bravely faced a tough battle all on her own.
Dizziness overtook her, and her vision faded. Just before she lost consciousness, she vaguely heard Dexter's worried voice. She desperately wanted to assure him that she was alright, but she didn't have the strength to do so.
The ward quickly descended into chaos. When the doctor examined her, he revealed that she'd fainted unexpectedly due to overwhelming anxiety and excessive stress.
In simpler terms, she was burdened by both mental and physical pressure, leaving her unable to cope. To address the situation, the doctor administered an IV drip.
The ward was eerily silent. Dexter gazed at her pale, weary face. There was a flicker of pity in his eyes that only surfaced when she was unaware. He tenderly caressed her cheek, realizing at that moment just how much weight she'd lost recently. swnovel
She was constantly running between the hospital and Graham Group, often going without food, which caused her to lose weight. He couldn't understand why she was working so hard.
Just then, her phone rang again.
Dexter couldn't help but frown as he had an idea who was calling. As he glanced at Angela's phone, the hame "Mr. Snowden" flashed on the screen, confirming his suspicion. swnovel
He stepped outside to take the call and returned less than a minute later. After
that, he casually placed the phone back, as if nothing had happened.
In the afternoon, Zack arrived, only to find Angela still asleep.
With a hint of worry in his voice, he turned to Dexter and asked, "How's Angela? Why isn't she awake yet? There are all kinds of news reports swirling outside. She's become more popular than a celebrity." swnovel
"Oh? What are they saying out there?" Dexter asked nonchalantly as he tenderly tucked the quilt in around her.
Zack laughed. "The media noted how swiftly Angela tackles issues. They can't
seem to pinpoint any issues with her at all. She's awesome, isn't she?"
"Let her rest first and stop saying unnecessary things," Dexter replied, glancing at Zack, who nodded in agreement.
Yet, Zack suddenly sensed that something was off.
