Chapter 285
Logan looked shocked. "Ms. Graham, isn't this something you should handle for me? I've been the head of the HR department at our company for years. If my reputation is ruined, won't the company suffer as well?
"Right now, all you need to do is issue a public statement saying that everything was fabricated by Rosanne-that this was all just part of her scheme. The public won't believe her. They will definitely..."
Before he could finish, a chill ran down his spine when he met Angela's piercing, icy gaze.
She stared at him intently, her entire presence overwhelming, as if she could explode in anger at any moment.
Angela scoffed. "Oh, you've really thought this through. No wonder you're so bold."
With an awkward expression, Logan scratched his nose. "I'm just thinking about the company's best interests. I don't want your reputation to be affected, after all."
"You shameless bastard! Do you dare swear that the child in my belly has nothing to do with you? You damn scumbag! I must have been blind to have gotten involved with you!"
At that moment, the door was flung open, and Rosanne stormed in furiously. Without hesitation, she slapped Logan across the face.
She clawed at him and hit him, but it wasn't enough to vent her anger. She grabbed the folder on Angela's desk and smacked it hard against Logan's face.
She was pregnant, but in her fury, her fighting power was off the charts. Logan staggered backward under her blows, nearly falling to the ground.
Outside the office, several employees had gathered to watch the commotion. Angela made no move to send them away. Instead, she shot a glance at Joanne, who had followed Rosanne in, silently instructing her to step in.
Logan assumed Joanne was coming to his aid. He never expected her to grab both of his arms, kick the back of his knees, and force him to kneel with a loud thud.
Rosanne was momentarily stunned but didn't overthink it. She rolled up her sleeves and swung the folder again, determined to ruin Logan's disgusting face.
The sound of slapping echoed crisply.
Everyone inside and outside the office was utterly shocked-except for Angela, who was casually scrolling through Logan's chat records.
That was when she made a
shocking discovery. This stingy man hadn't sent. Rosanne a single penny since they had gotten involved. Even when they had stayed at hotels, Rosanne was the one who transferred him 2,000 dollars to
cover the bills.
Unbelievable. The world truly was full of wonders.
Angela took screenshots of the chat records and sent them to her phone.
By the time Rosanne's hands were sore from hitting, Logan's face was swollen beyond recognition. Only then did Angela pretend to be annoyed and step in to stop her.
"I'm giving you one last chance. Tell me, how do you plan to handle this?" she asked Logan in a leisurely manner.
Angela had already made up her mind if Logan refused to take responsibility, she would fire him and ensure he could never work in Eldmere City again.
If he was willing to take responsibility, she might show some leniency, at least ensuring he could provide for Rosanne and the unborn child.
However, given how simply terrible he was, she thought that the best solution was for Logan to pay a large sum in compensation.
Logan, beaten and dazed, sobbed in pain. His voice trembled as he muttered, "I-I know I was wrong. I'll accept whatever you decide."
He was in a pitiful state.
Angela turned to Rosanne. "What about you? What do you plan to do?"
Her tone was especially gentle, filled with compassion.
Rosanne froze, then suddenly felt overwhelmed with grievance. Tears welled up
uncontrollably in her eyes, mixed with guilt toward Angela.
"Ms. Graham, I'm really sorry... I really had no other choice. If I hadn't done this, I wouldn't have had any change to see you. He cut off all the ways I could reach or any of the higher-ups."
