Chapter 290 – Thank You
–CAITLYN’S POV–
The infirmary was quiet when I slipped in.
Only the faint ticking of the clock on the wall and the smell of antiseptic filled the space.
My eyes went straight to him. Blake was sitting on one of the beds, his back straight and legs stretched out, bandages wrapped tight around his abdomen. He looked slightly pale, and very tired, but when he glanced at me, his green eyes caught mine, and for a second I forgot how to breathe.
God, they were beautiful.
That soft, deep green that made it impossible to look away. I hesitated, then before I could stop myself, I crossed the room and sat on the edge of his bed.
He blinked at me like I’d just done something impossible.
I had, I guess.
“Is everything okay?” he asked softly, eyebrows pulling together.
I nodded, and a small smile tugged at my lips. “Finally, it is. For the first time in years, everything feels okay. I feel okay. And it’s

all thanks to you, Blake.”
His brows rose slightly, surprise flickering in his eyes, and I felt this sudden urge to prove it was true, that I meant it. I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around him, hugging him.
He stiffened at first, like he had no idea what to do, but then he melted against me. My cheek rested against his shoulder, and for once I wasn’t filled with fear or bitterness or hatred.
Just peace.
He didn’t move an inch until I pulled away, and his mine, shining with relief and happiness.

The silence between us felt like too much. So I decided to fill it with words.
“I spent so long hating werewolves,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “I thought you were all monsters, that you only brought pain. But I never realised that you’re just like humans. Some good, some bad. I was too blind to see it. My trauma and pain took away my ability to see the other side of things.”
He shook his head softly, hand reaching towards my face. I stayed put, not leaning away. His fingers traced my skin, and those magical sparks shot down my body. “It’s alright, Caitlyn. What matters is that you understand that now. And that you’re safe, and so is Hannah.”
The gentleness in his tone made my throat ache. For years I’d carried anger like it was armour, and he just cut through it with simple words.
Then he shifted a little, grimacing from the wound, and reached for something on the bedside table.
I frowned, watching him.
He held it out to me.
Keys.
“What’s this?” I asked, taking them from him.
“A house,” he said simply. “For you and your sister.”
My mouth fell open. “What? Why? Are you kicking us out?”
Blake chuckled, shaking his head. “I would never dream to do that. But you’re free to go now, Caitlyn. Wherever you want. You deserve to live your life the way you want to. Like everybody else. I think I’ll manage. However, if you choose to stay in town, I didn’t want you to feel forced into the pack house. I know Hannah is very traumatised. I saw her, the state she was in. She might want space, somewhere that feels safe, away from my kind.”

The weight of the keys in my hand suddenly felt too much, and the heat of tears pricked my vision.
Nobody had ever thought of me like that.
Nobody had ever cared enough to offer something so kind.
“Blake…” My voice cracked as I tried to swallow back the emotion. “Thank you. For this. And for saving her. For bringing her back to me. She’s the only family I had left, and you fought
against monsters to return her to me. Thank you.”
Blake smiled, shaking his head like he didn’t wanna hear it. “There’s nothing in the world I wouldn’t do for you, Caitlyn.”
The words seemed to settle in my chest, sending a wave of warmth through me.
My heart hammered so loudly I was sure he could hear it. I leaned in before my brain had a chance to catch up with what I was doing.
Our lips brushed, and the tingles that shot through my skin made me pull away with a gasp.
Blake’s eyes darkened until they were black.
But I felt no fear. Not even a tinge of it.

Blake responded at once, his hands resting on my waist, pulling me on top of him like I weighed nothing.
I sucked in a breath, pulling away to meet his gaze. “You’re gonna hurt yourself,” I muttered.
“The wounds have healed,” he replied, tugging me close again. For more chapters visit
Our lips met once more, and his hunger spilled into the kiss, the passion between us making my heart ache and thunder at the same time.
My hands shot to the back of his neck, fingers entangling with his hair, my senses heightening.
He was everywhere.
His scent was everywhere.
His touch was everywhere.
He grunted softly against my lips, making me stiffen. “Sorry, did I hurt you?” I asked.
“Never,” he replied, claiming my mouth again.

For the first time in my life, I felt lucky.
I felt blessed.
My eyes shot to the window, where moonlight streamed in.
I guess I owed Lia’s mother a thank you.
