Chapter 895
"Seth, stop waiting. Noreen isn't coming."
Jude thought Noreen was being downright ruthless.
Seth lowered his eyes, hiding his disappointment, and finally walked out of the hospital.
It was raining again. Late autumn in Rivercrest City was always misty and damp, soaking a chill straight into the bone.
Jude went to get the car, telling Seth to wait at the entrance and stay out of the rain.
The hospital entrance was always bustling, regardless of the season. A little girl carrying a flower basket shyly walked up to him. "Hello."
Seth looked down at her. She was about six or seven, with two little braids. Her eyes were beautiful. Like Noreen's.
Seth stared in a daze, his mind wandering. If he and Noreen's baby had lived, would they be this old by now? If it were a girl, she would probably look just like her. With eyes just as bright.
"I'll take all the flowers," Seth said, hurriedly pulling out his phone. He paused when he realized she probably didn't have a phone to take digital payment. He crouched down to her eye level. "I don't have cash on me. Can you wait two minutes? I'll go get some for you."
The little girl shook her head. "These flowers are for you."
"For me?" Seth looked confused.
The little girl nodded. "A pretty lady already paid for them. She told me to give them to you."
"A lady? Where is she?" Seth frantically whipped his head around, searching the crowd for a familiar silhouette.
But the girl told him, "She already left."
A massive surge of hope and devastating disappointment churned violently in Seth's chest, throwing his heart into chaos.
The little girl shoved the bouquet into his arms. Finally, she pulled a small fabric pouch from her pocket and handed it over. "She told me to give you this, too."
Seth recognized the pouch. It was
an amulet bag from The Aurelian Abbey. He opened it and founda blessing charm inside. Tucked alongside the charm was a small note.
Seth pulled them out. They were damp, clearly just purchased. The handwriting was Noreen's.
[Live well,]
The paper was tiny, like half a page torn from a notebook. Seth gripped the note tightly, as if clutching onto a lifeline.
Jude drove them back. Seeing Seth keeping his head down, clutching the flowers in one arm and gripping something tightly in his fist, Jude thought he was still upset. As Seth's buddy, Jude was naturally on his side. Just like Claire unconditionally sided with Noreen. Contént belongs
"Noreen is being way too harsh. Even if you messed up back then, you sacrificed so much for her. Can't she just wipe the slate clean and give you another chance?"
It was a whole kidney! Jude knew he could never do that.
Seth tightened his grip on the pouch, his voice raspy. "But the pain I caused her was real. If it were you, would you take back someone who abandoned you?"
Jude instantly shut up. Obviously, he wouldn't.
He used to beg Noreen to forgive Seth because he thought they weren't at a complete dead end. He had always assumed Noreen was in figured Seth Net go, Noreen wouldn't be too devastated and could move on.

But after Claire told him the truth, he realized how incredibly wrong he was.
He had trampled all over Noreen's devoted heart. Her suffering had been so much
worse than he ever imagined. How did she even survive those dark days?
