Chapter 766
[That reminds me, Granger, who exactly is this woman you like? It's been so long, and you're still hiding her? Can't you give us a little hint?]
Granger stared at the screen for a long while before replying: [I'll tell you guys in a bit.]
Moran shot back instantly: [It's a promise then!]
Granger: [Yeah.]
Vesta didn't say a word.
But she knew exactly what Granger meant by "in a bit"—he was waiting for Thorne and Charlene's divorce to be finalized.
The next day.
After dropping Jasmine off at school, Charlene returned to the office. Not long after, she headed over to The Henderson Group with Gaylord Hearst and the rest of their team.
As luck would have it, they bumped into Dalton Ramirez, Raleigh, and their group in the lobby.
When Stewart Ferguson was around, Dalton would at least speak politely to Charlene. Now that Stewart wasn't there, Dalton acted like she didn't exist, leading Raleigh and the others straight into the elevator.
Raleigh knew that PrimeStar Technologies was collaborating with The Henderson Group, but he hadn't expected to run into Charlene here.
After a brief moment of surprise, he simply looked away.
Charlene also pretended not to know them. She and Gaylord took a different elevator, though they ended up crossing paths again on the upper floor.
Since they were working on different projects for the company, staff members quickly escorted the two groups to separate conference rooms.
Charlene's team stayed until the afternoon. Dalton's partnership with The
Henderson Group was relatively new, so by the time Charlene's team wrapped up, Raleigh and his colleagues were still there.
It was around the company's afternoon coffee break when Charlene Jeft. Most of the staff went to grab drinks, while Dalton went upstairs to find Thome, Raleigh had intended to take a break as well, but he noticed a discrepancy in their data. He grabbed Dalton's laptop to double-check the numbers.
After verifying the data, he went to close the window but accidentally clicked on a hidden folder.
He was about to exit when the photos inside caught his eye. He froze. As the reality of what he was seeing set in, his face drained of color, and his head snapped toward the direction Charlene had just left.
Just then, a colleague returned with their coffees. Moving purely on instinct, Raleigh quickly copied the folder, closed out of the window, and shut Dalton's laptop.
His coworker walked up and handed him a cup, laughing. "Why do you look so jumpy? Someone might think you were doing something shady."
Raleigh was still reeling from the images burnt into his mind-intimate photos of Thorne and Charlene locked in an embrace.
His throat felt tight, and his expression was grim. His fingers gripped the coffee cup so hard his knuckles turned white. "My hand slipped," he lied. "I almost dropped Mr. Ramirez's laptop, so it gave me a scare."
His colleague had only asked in passing and didn't press the issue.
Raleigh lowered his head. When his coworker wasn't looking, he discreetly unlocked
his phone, angling the screen out of sight to open the copied photos.
He didn't know if Dalton had taken these pictures himself or if someone had sent them to him. But Thorne and Charlene were wearing different outfits the shots, meaning the pictures were taken on different days. Whoever captured this had caught their illicit affair more than once.
EchoWave and PrimeStar Technologies were business partners, yet whether it was at the tech conference a few days ago just moments earlier in the lobby, Dalton had treated Charlene with icy indifference, acting like complete strangers.
Raleigh hadn't understood it before, but now—
