Chapter 1672
"Just listen to me and go," Fermin said, pulling his hand free.
The next thing she knew, he yanked her toward the emergency exit.
"Fermin!" she yelped.
The restaurant staff, loyal to Fermin, hustled her into the stairwell. By the time the guards outside caught on, she was gone.
"Get her," the guards barked.
If Liza slipped away, Michael would have their heads. But before they could chase, Fermin's crew boxed them
in.
"You know what this means?" one guard spat, dropping all politeness.
They knew he was just a puppet. If he broke free, Bert's life would be done.
"Kill them," Fermin ordered, turning back to the restaurant.
A waiter dropped a tray, the crash drowning out muffled screams from the stairwell.
Liza was already in a cab. She tried to turn back, but a staffer blocked her. "Miss, you can't go anywhere but Seamar City. The Potter Mansion is your safest bet. Think of what Mr. Eaton's doing for you."
Her stay overseas made her a hostage. While she was here, Fermin was leashed. Only if she reached Seamar City could he move freely.
Liza's gut churned. She didn't know his plan, but it screamed danger.
A plane to Seamar City was set. Once she landed, someone drove her to the Potter Mansion.
She leaped out and bolted inside, crashing into Debra's arms. "Help Fermin. He's in trouble. Someone's using my dad to control my family. His illness might be their doing."
"Cool it," Debra said, sensing her anxiety.
It was a rough time, and they had been stretched thin. Despite past beef with Fermin, they had to team up against the Illuminati now. Thɪs chapter is updated by f͟i͟n͟d͟n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟.net
"You knew? All of you did?" Liza froze.
"Overseas is a warzone. Seamar City's no picnic either," Debra said. "We're negotiating with the Illuminati and might get a dicey soon. But the Potter Mansion's safe for now. Stay here, and Fermin can focus on his plan."
She held Liza's hand and added, "Have faith in him. Yesterday, we locked in a plan. We'll keep you safe and help him."
