Chapter 1685

Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right · Cozy Season

Jordan signaled the guards at the door to stop Randy.

But they didn't stand a chance. In three seconds flat, Randy laid them out.

Jordan watched him vanish down the hall, dumbfounded. 'When did he get this good?'

At the entrance, more guards tried to block Randy. He didn't slow down as he threw punches at them.

Even with their number, they couldn't catch him.

30 seconds later, Randy was in his car, peeling out toward the valley. Scenes from his childhood flashed across his mind. This text is hosted at findnovel.net

"Leg up. Fist tight. Punch!" Caleb shouted.

Erica eyed the wooden dummies in front of them and aimed for perfection.

Randy's attention was all on her. He was not interested in these self-defense skills at all.

"Randy, focus!" Caleb whacked his arm with a cane. "Get real or go home."

Randy couldn't care less. The truth was, he had already learned it all.

At eight years old, his freakish athletic genes got him shipped off to a two-month boot camp. There, his raw talent made him untouchable in the junior league.

Back then, he thought fighting was boring and pointless. Nobody could beat him, and he couldn't understand why girls would love it so much.

But the first time he saw Erica, she hooked him.

"This is too hard. I can't do it," he whined.

Erica finally glanced his way. That lit him up inside.

She wasn't big on people. Since she'd come to the Houston Mansion, she hadn't paid him any attention.

Before he could savor it, Caleb's cane cracked his backside. "Quit clowning. Do it or leave."

"Easy. I'll do it," he said, rubbing his butts.

The memory shifted. He stood in Caleb's study, caked in mud.

Sitting behind the desk, Caleb stared at him. "Don't think you can play smart forever. That's a waste of your talent. Self-defense isn't just for you but also for those you want to protect. You don't get it now, but you will."

The memory ended there, and he got it now.

Fighting used to feel like kid stuff, but Erica loved it. She was a powerhouse, never bowing to any guy.

So, he had played weak around her, letting her shine.

He had planned to let her be the badass while he held down the fort, but she was in trouble now. He needed to act.
