Letty smiled, full of praise as she continued. “Libby and I wanted to thank her, so we treated her to a meal. And my goodness, seeing her in person… she’s beautiful, capable, and carries herself with such poise. I thought immediately that she and Callahan would be a good match. Unfortunately, she didn’t seem interested at the time. I had no idea she knew you too! And that you had the exact same idea!”

Dante laughed heartily. “That’s perfect! We’ll work together on this and get those two together soon!”

Letty thought for a moment, a look of worry crossing her face. “But… you know how Callahan is. He’s never cared about relationships. If he isn’t willing…”

Speaking of her icy son gave her a headache. It wasn’t the first time she’d tried to introduce someone to him, but Callahan always claimed he was too busy and refused. She wondered if she’d ever get a daughter-in-law.

Dante waved his hand, brimming with confidence. “Don’t worry! I can tell Callahan treats Leilani differently. He even asked me for her number the other day. You know your son best-if he didn’t have any interest, would he ask for that?”

Letty’s eyes widened. “Really?”

Was there finally hope for a daughter-in-law?

Dante stroked his beard smugly. “Of course! So, we have to create opportunities for them to interact today!”

Letty nodded with a smile. “Alright, Dad, don’t worry. Leave it to me!”

Meanwhile, at the airport.

Callahan had just gotten off the plane. When he turned on his phone, several notifications popped up. The top one was a missed call from Leilani, followed by a message explaining.

Callahan calculated the time difference. Leilani had called right when he was in the air with no signal. By sheer coincidence, they had missed each other’s calls.

His finger hovered over the screen, ready to call back, when the phone rang first. It was his grandfather.

Glancing at the calendar, Callahan realized today was Dante’s eightieth birthday. He frowned slightly and answered. “Grandpa.”

Dante’s robust voice boomed from the other end. “Callahan! Where are you? Why aren’t you back yet?”

Callahan rubbed his temple. “Just got off the plane.”

“It’s my birthday today! Don’t tell me you forgot?” Dante complained.

“I didn’t forget,” Callahan said. “I flew back today specifically for it. Give me a moment to handle some things, and I’ll head over.”

Dante huffed. Since it was his big day, he decided not to give Callahan a hard time. “If you didn’t forget, then hurry up! There’s important business at home!”

“What business?”

Dante lowered his voice mysteriously. “You’ll know when you get here! Anyway, hurry!”

He hung up before Callahan could respond.

Callahan stared at the phone. He checked the time and, after a brief thought, sent a message to Leilani first.
