“Arnold’s condition isn’t good.”

He briefly recounted how Arnold had been poisoned abroad and urgently transferred back to the country. Although his tone was calm, the chill in his eyes couldn’t be hidden.

Leilani listened, set down her breakfast, and pulled out a tissue to wipe her fingertips, her expression returning to that of the composed, professional Leilani.

“Which hospital is he in now?”

“Alloy City Hospital, VIP ward.” Callahan looked at her. “If it’s convenient for you, you could go take a look today.”

Leilani hesitated. Just last night, Mr. Dillon had messaged her saying the Moonlight Herb was back and asked her to get to Brass City as soon as possible within the next two days. The timing was terrible.

Leilani explained to Callahan. “Another patient I’ve taken on recently contacted me last night. They need me in Brass City within the next couple of days, so I might not have time to visit Arnold right away.”

Although Callahan had already investigated her three identities, Leilani still didn’t reveal the identity of this “mysterious patient” to him.

“How many days will you be gone?” Callahan frowned slightly. “Do you need me to go with you?”

Arnold’s condition was currently stable in the hospital. A delay of two or three days wouldn’t be an issue. So, Callahan didn’t insist that Leilani visit Arnold immediately.

“No need.” Leilani shook her head, her tone calm but brooking no refusal. “I can go by myself. But don’t worry, I’ll be back in two days at most.”

Callahan stared at her for two seconds, ultimately asking no further questions. He simply said, “Alright. Contact me when you’re done, and I’ll pick you up.”

Leilani murmured an assent and lowered her head to continue eating breakfast, though she had a vague feeling that Arnold’s situation was probably not that simple.

Seeing that Leilani had her own matters to attend to, Callahan left.

An hour later, Leilani changed into a sharp professional outfit and walked out carrying her medical kit.

Callahan’s car was still parked downstairs. Seeing her come out, he rolled down the window. “I’ll drive

you?”

Leilani was a bit surprised. He hadn’t left yet? Wasn’t Callahan supposed to be a busy man? Why was he so free today?

Normally, Leilani would have been happy to catch a ride, but today she had already booked a car.

So, Leilani shook her head. “No thanks, I’m driving myself.”

Callahan looked in the direction she pointed and indeed saw a white Mercedes. He didn’t push it,

simply saying, “Drive safely.”

Leilani nodded and turned toward her rental car. Just as she opened the door, she heard him call her

name again.

She looked back. “Hm?”

Callahan looked at her, his voice low. “The treatment fee this time will be the same as we agreed on

before.”

Agreed on before? Wasn’t that a hundred million dollars?

Leilani paused, then laughed. “Mr. Langley, do you take me for a crooked doctor?”

She waved her hand, her tone relaxed. “Friends discount. Ten million is fine.”

Callahan raised an eyebrow. “That cheap?”

Leilani smirked, half-joking. “What, think it’s too little? Should I raise it?”

Callahan chuckled low. “No need. We’ll do as you say.”

Leilani nodded and got into the car. After starting the engine, she glanced at the Maybach still parked in the spot through the rearview mirror, her lips pursed slightly.

Arnold’s situation likely involved more than just simple business competition. And Callahan… He was definitely still hiding something from her.

Leilani sat in the car, watching the stationary Maybach, tapping her fingers lightly on the steering wheel, her brow furrowed.
