Callahan’s narrow eyes were as cold as ice, his tone carrying a heavy warning.

Thinking of the consequences of provoking the man before him, Micah pursed his lips and reluctantly withdrew his hand.

Forget it. Better not to poke the bear. He couldn’t touch Leilani for now, but he couldn’t resist running his mouth.

Micah patted Callahan’s shoulder teasingly, his smile completely insincere.

“It seems this Ms. Sloan is someone special to you. You’re guarding her so closely, it’s almost scary. After knowing you all these years, this is the first time I’ve seen you like this. But since I’m not welcome, I’ll go.”

He waved at Leilani, his fox-like eyes sparkling with a charming allure, “Ms. Sloan, see you next time.”

Outside, he probably charmed countless naive heiresses with that look. Unfortunately, his wink was wasted on the blind here.

Leilani was no naive heiress. She rarely showed her emotions even in front of Callahan, let alone Micah, whom she had only met twice. She treated Micah’s little tricks as if they didn’t exist.

The auction had reached its intermission. Leilani told Callahan she was stepping out and went to the restroom.

When she came out of the restroom, she saw from a distance that Callahan had also left the box.

He was standing at the end of the corridor.

Beside him stood a woman in an haute couture gown. Her makeup was exquisite, her red lips bright, and she was leaning intimately toward Callahan with undisguised enthusiasm.

llahan, long time no see. Why haven’t you been answering my calls? Who was that woman in your just now?”

Compared to the woman’s warmth, Callahan stood in stark, frigid contrast. He looked cold, turning slightly to avoid her approach.

“Ms. Yetman, we only met once at your father’s invitation. We aren’t that close. Please show some self-respect.”

The woman refused to give up, actually reaching out to take Callahan’s arm.

“Callahan, don’t be so cold. We may have only met once, but we’ll get to know each other after a few more meetings, right? Have you forgotten that our families go way back…?”

Callahan’s face had turned completely into a block of ice due to the woman’s lack of boundaries, his eyes radiating a chill.

Seeing his expression, the woman remembered that Callahan wasn’t exactly known for his gentle temper. Her outstretched hand froze. Under his withering glare, she awkwardly retracted her hand. Leilani was a little surprised to see Callahan like this. She didn’t think there was anything going on

between him and this woman. After all, his rejection and distance were painfully obvious.

But… seeing him being pestered like this was a rare sight. In her impression, although Callahan always wore a poker face, he was always composed. She had never really seen him lose his temper. This version of Callahan really did live up to the rumors of him being an intimidating, cold-faced tyrant.
