The sales associate looked conflicted, glancing between Leilani and the man, unsure of who to listen to.

Seeing that the woman was ignoring him, Clive let out a cold laugh. He reached up, removing his sunglasses and hat to reveal a handsome, arrogant face. “Now, can you show it to me first?”

The associate’s eyes went wide instantly, her voice trembling with excitement. “You… you… you’re Clive Sloan?”

Clive curled his lips into a smirk, his tone flippant. “Yeah, that’s me.”

The associate flushed red, her attitude immediately turning ingratiating as she completely ignored Leilani standing to the side.

“Mr. Sloan, please wait a moment. I’ll get it for you right away!”

She turned to retrieve the watch.

Leilani’s gaze turned icy. She pressed her hand firmly onto the glass counter, her tone calm but brooking no argument. “I believe I was here first. Does this store not understand the concept of first come, first served?”

The associate froze, standing there awkwardly

Clive finally looked directly at Leilani. His gaze lingered on her face for two seconds before he let out a scoff.

“I was wondering who it was. Turns out it’s you” He looked her up and down, his tone dripping with mockery. “What, you have money for luxury goods now? Did you find yourself another sugar daddy?”

Leilani looked at him expressionlessly. “Clive, are you just bored, or do you think picking fights in public makes you look good?”

Clive narrowed his eyes. He hadn’t expected her to talk back. His face darkened instantly. “Leilani, you’d better remember your place. A girl raised in the Sloan family for a bit before getting kicked out dares to compete with me for things?”

When Leilani was brought back to the Sloan family, it was under the guise of adoption. Although everyone knew Leilani’s true identity, in the eyes of outsiders, she had always existed as the Sloan family’s adopted daughter

Leilani looked at Clive as if she had heard a ridiculous joke, a sarcastic expression forming on her face. “The Sloan family raised me? That’s rich. Clive, doesn’t your face burn when you say that? In years since I was brought back, when have I ever spent a dime of the Sloan family’s money?”

Leilani was only seventeen when she was brought back to the Sloan family, an age where self-esteem and insecurity were at their peak. She didn’t dare ask Hackett or Zadie for money. Aside from necessary living expenses while living under their roof, she covered everything else herself. Her pocket money came entirely from part-time jobs she worked during her free time.

Clive’s expression changed, his eyes turning sharp. “What do you mean by that? Mom and Dad gave you the same allowance they gave us!”

Leilani paused, unaware of this claim. But her mind worked quickly, and she understood what had happened. Tamara must have used her name to ask Hackett for money in the past. No wonder Hackett always looked at her like she owed the Sloan family a massive debt after she got out of prison.

To Clive, Leilani’s silence looked like a guilty conscience. He huffed coldly, his gaze becoming even more disdainful.
