The Unlucky Turn by Mark Twain 282
Carola looked at Felicity in disbelief. “Grandma! How could you, for the sake of an outsider…”
Scold me like this…
Before Carola could finish, Felicity interrupted her angrily. “Shut up!”
Seeing that Carola still showed no remorse, her anger flared. She scolded Carola, “The family almost offended a miracle doctor because of you! And you still don’t think you’re wrong? I think we’ve spoiled you until you don’t know how the real world works. For the time being, you stay home and reflect on your actions! I won’t let you out until you realize your mistake!”
As the youngest girl in the family, Carola had never received such a harsh reprimand. And to make it worse, the reason for the scolding was Leilani-the person she hated most. Her eyes turned red, and she ran upstairs in a huff.
The atmosphere between grandmother and granddaughter was ruined.
Lance sighed and supported Felicity, whose face had gone pale from anger. He tried to comfort her. “Grandma, you know Carola’s personality. We raised her to be too simple-minded, so sometimes she doesn’t see the reality of things. You just need to talk to her nicely. Why get so angry?”
Facing her grandson, Felicity’s expression softened slightly. She sighed. “It’s because of that attitude of yours that Carola never reflects on herself when she does something wrong, but instead blames others! Today she offended a doctor. What about in the future? If she doesn’t change this personality, she’ll cause a disaster sooner or later. Will the Conners be able to protect her then?”
Lance didn’t take Felicity’s earnest warnings seriously. After all, their family was fairly well-established in the city, holding a respectable mid-tier position. Carola was a bit willful, but she wasn’t stupid. She wouldn’t provoke some big shot that the Conners couldn’t handle.
As for Leilani…
Lance admitted her medical skills were impressive, but the country was huge. Were they really lacking in doctors?
Lance thought Felicity was treating Leilani as her only lifeline. Now that Leilani had left in anger, it was natural for Felicity to feel anxious and upset. He patiently comforted her. “Grandma, don’t worry. I’ll find another doctor to look at your legs. As for Carola, once she calms down, I’ll talk to her tonight. Don’t be angry anymore. Anger harms the body, and your health is more important than anything.”
Seeing Lance’s reaction, Felicity knew he hadn’t taken her words to heart at all. She shook her head helplessly and didn’t insist on lecturing him further.
But deep down, she knew… perhaps only that Leilani could truly cure her legs. She had seen many doctors recently, All of them were renowned specialists, but none were like Leilani. Just a few needles, and the effect was immediate,
Felicity looked toward the door where Leilani had left, her cloudy eyes full of regret. The Conners might have truly offended Leilani this time…

Two days later.
After Yvonne had settled in at home after being discharged, she texted Leilani to meet up for a girls’ day out. Leilani happened to have some free time, so she agreed.
They met at the most upscale mall in the city center. Upon seeing Leilani, Yvonne rushed over excitedly and linked arms with her.
“Leilani! Finally, I get to see you! You have no idea. I’ve been bored to death at home these past two days!”
Leilani chuckled softly. “Really? You’re back home now; how can you still be bored?”
