The Unlucky Turn by Mark Twain 369
Carola stumbled as she was dragged along, completely confused. “Tamara? Why are you walking so
fast?”
Tamara didn’t answer, just gripping her pass tightly, her knuckles turning white.
Yvonne withdrew her gaze and tugged gently on Leilani’s sleeve, whispering, “Leilani, just now…
Tamara seemed to see us.”
Leilani didn’t even look up, her tone indifferent. “Yeah, she saw.”
Judie leaned in, her face full of gossip. “Why didn’t she come over to pick a fight? That’s not her style!”
Yvonne pursed her lips and said softly, “She… seems a little afraid of me.”
Leilani glanced sideways at her, the corners of her mouth lifting slightly. “People with a guilty conscience are always afraid.”
Yvonne blinked, then suddenly smiled. “So she gets scared too.”
Judie patted her on the shoulder, grinning. “Yvonne, right now you are her ‘nightmare’! She harmed you once, so now you get to make her live in fear forever!”
The ticket Clive had prepared for Tamara was for Box 3, which was near the center but slightly off to
the side.
The VIP boxes were located in the area with the best view of the venue, surrounded by leather sofas, with exquisite fruit platters and champagne on crystal coffee tables. The floor-to-ceiling glass wall offered a panoramic view of the stage. It was soundproofed excellently without diminishing the impact of the live performance, and the temperature was precisely controlled at 72 degrees.
As soon as Tamara sat down, Carola couldn’t help but exclaim, “Tamara, your brother treats you so well! Normal people can’t get seats this close to the front!”
Tamara raised her chin triumphantly. “Of course, Clive cares about me the most.”
She deliberately raised her volume, glancing out of the corner of her eye at Leilani’s trio not far away, wanting to see their reaction.
However, Leilani didn’t even look at her. She was whispering and laughing with Judie, completely ignoring Tamara’s existence.
Tamara felt a tightness in her chest, and her face instantly turned sour.
Carola noticed her mood and quickly comforted her. “Tamara, don’t pay attention to them! Clive will definitely interact with you from the stage later. That will make them die of envy!”
Tamara took a deep breath and forced a smile. “Yeah!”
However, Tamara’s peripheral vision couldn’t help but drift toward the prime viewing area-Box 1. Although Box 3, which Clive had prepared for her, was in the VIP section, the angle was slightly off.
Box 1, on the other hand, was directly facing the center of the stage. It had the best view in the entire

venue and was usually reserved for sponsors and major investors.
However, as her gaze swept past Box 1, her heart skipped a beat.
The door to Box 1 was open, and sitting inside were Leilani, Judie, and Yvonne! Before them lay exquisite fruit platters and champagne. Judie was even leaning lazily back on the leather sofa, holding her phone up to record the stage, looking completely relaxed and at ease.
Tamara’s face darkened instantly.
Carola followed her sight and her eyes went wide. “Isn’t that Leilani? Why is she in Box 1?”
The sidekick next to them also gasped. “Isn’t Box 1 reserved for top-tier VIPs only? Even Tamara didn’t get that one. What gives them the right?”
Tamara clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her palms.
Seeing her ugly expression, Carola immediately filled with righteous indignation. “Tamara, don’t be mad! I’ll go ask right now. They probably snuck in secretly!”
Without waiting for Tamara to stop her, Carola charged over aggressively.
She pushed the door open and pointed a finger at Leilani, screeching, “Why are you here? Is this a box you’re allowed to be in?”
