After contemplating her mother’s advice, Emalee hesitated but ultimately decided to make the call to Ashton.

Miriam cleared her throat, ignoring his inquiry. “We’ve been very busy lately. Phillip made quite a mess before he committed suicide, which left us with a lot to clean up. But things are improving. Now that the obstacle between you and Emalee is gone, you can resume your relationship.”
Ashton could sense their ulterior motives and frowned.
Matthew then carefully interjected, “By the way, Ashton, I’ve heard that Skyline Group is facing some challenges. There’s a shortage of staff. Perhaps you could consider including us in the project? We don’t want to cause any trouble—just our family. Think about it. We just want to keep in touch with you. Bobby often talks about wanting to see you more.”
Ashton remained stern. “I came here to see Bobby, not to discuss other matters. Please step aside and let me through.”
