Chapter 219
Chapter 219:
Thinking that Ashton and his group wouldn’t fact-check his claims, Hayes had bragged carelessly. To his dismay, Ashton, who happened to be involved in the project, promptly exposed Hayes’ deceit, causing him to flush with embarrassment, though he quickly regained his composure.
He laughed it off, saying, “I’m handling too many projects. I must have confused it with a nearby villa district project.”
As she saw her boyfriend being put on the spot while Rosalie snickered on the side, Briley was seething with a mix of humiliation and anger. Although she felt enraged, Briley cursed silently, wondering what Rosalie was laughing at. She was merely a construction worker. Why did she act like that project was connected to her directly?
Desperately trying to recover her dignity, Briley turned to Rosalie with a smooth smile. “Oh, by the way, Rosalie, I heard you haven’t made it to any classmate reunions since we graduated. Actually, we have another one coming up soon. Since we’ve run into each other, you simply must attend. Many of our old classmates are eager to see how their once-celebrated campus belle is faring now!
Moreover, Hayes has managed to secure an extraordinary venue through his connections. It’s far more glamorous than the usual gatherings. You should definitely come and check it out!”
As Briley spoke, she glanced at Ashton. Although Liam remained seated at the table, it was evident to anyone with a keen eye that Rosalie and Ashton shared a closer bond.
Feigning generosity, Briley said, “I assume that he is your boyfriend, right? Bring him along too; let him experience a taste of high society!”
In truth, Briley’s invitation was far from sincere. Her real motive for inviting Ashton was to overshadow Rosalie during the class reunion. Indeed, Rosalie was more beautiful than her, and Ashton was more attractive than Hayes. But what good were looks if they could not be used practically?
No matter how charming or intelligent Rosalie was, nothing compared to having a well-connected partner like hers.

Rosalie, once the queen of their school, was now reduced to working as a construction worker with her boyfriend. At that moment, Ashton and Rosalie exchanged glances, their expressions clouded with disapproval.
It was clear that Briley had ulterior motives, and Ashton and Rosalie had no intention of engaging with her games. Yet, before they could decline, Hayes spoke up with a note of pride.
“I can offer you a glimpse into a world you’ve never seen before. Perhaps you’ve heard of Sup Group’s new branch in Inewood? I have a strong connection with Jacoby Marquez, the boss of that branch. I’ve invited him to the gathering as well. Maybe you’ll have a chance to meet him.”
At this, Ashton raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Even though Hayes might be exaggerating or outright lying, Ashton was curious enough to want to see for himself. If Hayes’ claims were true, it could be advantageous to make this connection.
Before Rosalie could protest, Ashton nodded in agreement. “That sounds like an excellent idea!” He gave Rosalie a playful wink.
