As Ashton mulled over these thoughts, he began to extend his hand toward hers but hesitated and pulled back.
Rosalie, who had been watching him from the corner of her eye, noticed his gesture. She frowned slightly as she saw him retract his hand. Then, with a slight pout, she stood and walked swiftly toward the reunion venue.
Ashton, interpreting her quick departure as a sign of annoyance, picked up his pace to catch up with her. Just then, they saw a crowd gathered around their car at the parking area.
They exchanged a glance and moved closer.
As they neared, Rosalie recognized a few familiar faces among the crowd. These were her former classmates, now crowding around Briley, vying for her attention.
Briley leaned casually against Ashton’s car, surrounded by the crowd.
Driven by curiosity, Rosalie and Ashton edged closer and soon caught snippets of conversation.
“Briley, did your boyfriend really arrange a private yacht for this gathering?”
“Absolutely!”
“What on earth are you talking about! Do you see the car she drives? It’s a limited edition! Only someone worth millions could afford that!”
As the whispers of admiration filled the air, a smug look settled on Briley’s face. She was hesitant to admit the car belonged to her boyfriend, though. Initially, she had planned to snap a photo of the car for social media, but just as she neared the car, her classmates approached, and she took advantage of the situation to elevate her status with the luxury car.
Briley knew she couldn’t stay long; the private beach was frequented by other affluent people. What if the owner of the car came back and found them? That would certainly be embarrassing. Thus, she was just about to ask her classmates to leave when she noticed Rosalie and Ashton.
Squinting slightly, she remarked sarcastically, “Oh, look who it is! Rosalie! Decided to walk, did you? You nearly missed out!”

A few of the male classmates, who still harbored feelings for her, perked up at her arrival. They were about to approach Rosalie but paused upon seeing the distinguished man by her side, their expressions turning hostile.
Capitalizing on the moment, Briley announced, “See, I told you all, didn’t I? There’s Rosalie! What a stroke of luck! I happened to pass a construction site earlier and saw Rosalie and her boyfriend having a meal at a roadside stall. If it weren’t for that, we probably wouldn’t have seen her today.”
Among those gathered today, several had heard that Rosalie was attending the event and had specifically cleared their schedules to come and see her. Now, discovering that her companion was her boyfriend, their excitement quickly soured. Their expressions hardened as they directed their scornful gazes at Ashton.
With a sneer, one of them jeered, “Hey, buddy, do you have any idea how far this beach is from the downtown area? You had the audacity to bring Rosalie all the way out here on foot?”
