Seeing the yacht, the highlight of the event, everyone’s eyes gleamed with excitement, and they promptly formed a line toward the dock.
As the group climbed aboard the yacht, those who had previously showered Briley with attention now flocked back to her, especially the male classmates who were still interested in Rosalie.
They glanced at Ashton with disdain before turning to Briley. “Briley, it’s clear you’re the one with real connections. Sure, plenty of people in Inewood drive BMWs, and some even own BMW sports coupes. But a yacht? That’s a rarity reserved for only a select few in Inewood.”
“Indeed! I’ve always believed Briley is luckier. Her boyfriend can just bring out a yacht for a class reunion. Not even the heirs of the wealthiest families might manage that.”
“Some might even rent a luxury car just to impress. But that’s just what I think. Don’t take it too seriously.”
Reveling in the compliments and the subtle digs at Ashton, Briley felt a surge of joy. As the conversation continued, everyone made their way onto the yacht. Overflowing with pride, Briley hurried over to Hayes, affectionately took his arm, and introduced him to everyone.
“This is my boyfriend, Hayes. He’s the general manager of his family’s construction materials company.”
Upon discovering Hayes’ impressive background, the crowd quickly surrounded him, eager to offer their praises. Hayes chuckled, pretending to be humble. “You’re all too generous. I haven’t accomplished much on my own; it’s largely due to my family’s support. This yacht is merely one of our company’s assets, valued at just over ten million dollars. It really isn’t as luxurious as you’re making it out to be.”
Despite his humble words, the smug look on Hayes’ face was hard to miss. He looked around the crowd, hoping to catch Rosalie’s admiring gaze. Instead, he spotted Rosalie by the railing, deeply engaged in conversation with Ashton, and oblivious to his presence.
Jealousy appeared in Hayes’ eyes, but he quickly concealed it. He remained confident, certain he had ample time to prove his value to Rosalie.

The room was lavishly prepared with an array of seafood, fine wines, and a live band providing music. The setting was undeniably opulent. Despite their expectations, the grandeur of the setup left the attendees spellbound. They were struck by the glimpse into the lifestyle of the truly affluent.
Hayes looked around once more, his gaze eventually finding Rosalie. Though she didn’t choose to wear a swimsuit like the other women, Rosalie had dressed in a short-sleeved top and shorts, perfectly suited for a day on the water. As Hayes watched Rosalie’s long legs and the way her curvaceous figure was accentuated by the sea breeze, he felt heat rising in his body. He felt a strong desire to win her over.
To undermine Ashton and enhance his own allure, Hayes approached Ashton with a warm smile. He tapped Ashton on the shoulder in a seemingly friendly gesture and inquired, “Hey, man, you’re Ashton, right? What do you make of this yacht?”
“It’s not bad. The atmosphere is certainly pleasant,” Ashton responded nonchalantly.
