Chapter 239
Chapter 239:
Panic and frustration flashed in his eyes, now tinged with a desperate red.
Without warning, he swung the knife toward Ashton’s neck.
Aggy, who had just reached them, let out a terrified scream and shut her eyes tightly, fearing the worst for Ashton.
A second later, she heard a pained cry—a cry of agony. To her astonishment, the cry didn’t come from Ashton, but from the robber!
With her heart pounding in her chest, Aggy cautiously opened her eyes, only to witness a scene that left her utterly speechless.
Ashton stood there, unharmed and composed, having effortlessly disarmed the robber. In a swift motion, he had pinned the man to the floor, rendering him helpless. The scream of pain had indeed come from the robber, who now lay groaning on the floor.
Ashton looked up and met Aggy’s stunned gaze with a reassuring smile.
“Don’t just stand there,” he said calmly. “Call the mall security to take him away.”
His words jolted Aggy out of her shock, and she quickly scrambled to call for help. As the mall security arrived and took the robber into custody, Aggy’s pale face slowly regained some color.
She couldn’t fathom how she would have dealt with such a dire situation without Ashton’s timely intervention. The thought alone made her shudder.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Aggy turned to Ashton and said, “Thank you. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
Ashton waved off her thanks with a casual shrug. “It was nothing, really. No big deal.”
But to Aggy, it was far from insignificant. She quickly invited Ashton to sit down, even going so far as to brew him a cup of coffee—the best coffee beans in their store. “Please, make yourself comfortable,” Aggy insisted. “Our manager is currently changing shifts, but I’ll inform him of what happened right away. And if you’re planning to shop here, I’ll do my best to get you a discount.”

Before Ashton could respond, Aggy hurried into the back room, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
Ashton chuckled softly to himself and shook his head, savoring the warmth of the coffee in his hands. At that moment, Jacoby and Briley finally stepped into the jewelry store.
They had lingered outside the mall for a few minutes, deliberately avoiding Ashton’s notice, completely unaware of his earlier act of heroism.
As Jacoby scanned the store and confirmed that Rosalie wasn’t with Ashton, a sinister smile curled on his lips.
He feared Rosalie, not Ashton!
With a smug expression, Jacoby eagerly approached Ashton, his voice dripping with mockery.
“Ashton, surprised to see me here? You pulled that sneaky trick on me before, causing me days of bad luck. Now, it’s time for someone else to taste that misfortune!”
