Chapter 261
Chapter 261:
Jacoby’s face fell as he saw Charlie.
He was well aware of Charlie’s position as the CEO of Skyline Group but had not anticipated his presence at the inspection of the project.
An unsettling dread gripped Jacoby, rendering him momentarily speechless and visibly anxious.
Charlie made it clear that he had no intention of letting Jacoby off the hook.
“This inspection is being conducted by Skyline Group as the first party. What authority do you, representing Sup Group, have to create problems here?” Charlie’s tone was firm and unyielding.
Jacoby, his gaze fixed downward, avoided Charlie’s penetrating stare. He managed to say, “There seems to have been a misunderstanding. I did not come here intending to cause trouble. The real issue is that the project design the Campbell family has presented was so deeply disappointing that it greatly affected my friend, Rolland, and he felt compelled to criticize it severely.”
In the presence of Skyline Group’s CEO, Rolland’s composure was notably shaken. Nevertheless, he maintained a facade of confidence.
“I have a background in architectural design and felt obligated to point out the flaws in what I perceive as a failed design. I apologize for any trouble this may have caused.”
Charlie’s disdain grew evident. “Skyline Group has invested in this project, and the outcome of this inspection is entirely my concern. Since when did it become your place to comment on it?”
The elderly man accompanying Charlie raised an eyebrow and addressed Rolland with a hint of sarcasm. “And who might you be, that you can so readily identify the issues in this design? It seems you hold quite a reputation in architectural circles.”
Upon hearing the elderly man’s praise of Rolland, Jacoby’s spirits were lifted with renewed hope.

He quickly presented Rolland, saying, “Allow me to introduce you to my friend Rolland. He is an esteemed architectural design master from Tacland, known for his exceptional work among many of the most prestigious families.”
Upon hearing Jacoby’s introduction, the elderly man’s interest was piqued. He then smiled and inquired of Rolland, “Really? You come from Tacland? Are you aware of who I am?”
The old man’s sudden and unexpected question struck Rolland like a bolt of lightning, leaving him momentarily stunned and at a loss for words.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Rolland slowly shook his head and responded, “I apologize, but I do not believe we have ever had the pleasure of meeting before.”
The old man’s statement carried an undertone that immediately made Jacoby sense an ominous hint of hostility brewing beneath the surface.
It suddenly dawned on Jacoby that the individual Charlie had brought was not someone to be trifled with and was certainly not going to be an ally in their favor.
In response, Jacoby scoffed with disdain and sneered, “You old geezer, why should we care who you are? What does any of this have to do with us?”
