Ashton, continuing to play along, conducted a thorough inspection of the vase.

Once satisfied with the examination, Ashton summoned an employee to take the vase into the building. He then promptly handed Abram a check for three times the price of the vase. Feigning a regretful expression, Ashton explained apologetically, “I’m sorry—it’s not that we doubted you, but company policy requires us to follow this procedure. Otherwise, it would be difficult for me to justify internally.”

This behavior only reinforced Abram’s belief that Ashton and his team had planned to use the antique vase for their schemes.

Fortunately, Abram had been one step ahead, ensuring the vase was handed over in public, leaving no room for swapping or fraud.

Feeling triumphant, Abram, after verifying the check amount, impatiently barked, “Enough with the pleasantries. How about your promise about the lottery? Get on with it!”

No sooner had Abram spoken than two Skyline Group employees emerged from the building, carrying a raffle box draped in red cloth.

Upon seeing the box, Abram eagerly stepped forward and plunged his hand into it without a moment’s hesitation.

It was deep, with only a few balls inside.

After some considerable feeling around, Abram finally retrieved a golden ball with the words “Grand Prize” boldly inscribed in the center.

Abram was so ecstatic that he nearly leaped with joy—he had actually won the five-million-dollar villa prize!

Waving the golden ball triumphantly at Ashton, he exclaimed, “See? I just won the five-million-dollar villa! I will claim it now. Bring me to it!”

Ashton calmly glanced at his watch before replying, “Please be patient. You were allowed to participate ahead of schedule, and there are still procedures to complete, so you’ll need to wait a little longer.”

Upon hearing Ashton’s explanation, Abram chose not to argue further. After all, with a golden ball worth millions in his hand, it seemed unlikely that Skyline Group would renege. A short wait was tolerable.

However, as time dragged on and half an hour passed with no further developments, Abram, along with the onlookers, began to grow increasingly impatient.

As people began to gradually disperse, Abram finally lost his patience. “I’ve waited long enough. Are these procedures never going to end? Don’t tell me you’re stalling just because I won the grand prize!”

Ashton raised his gaze with a contemptuous smirk and declared, “The moment has arrived. While Skyline Group is committed to fulfilling its prize obligations, you must first resolve the outstanding issues of fraud and extortion that you have been implicated in.”

As Abram observed the sneer on Ashton’s face, a wave of unease washed over him. His earlier confidence began to wane, replaced by a growing sense of apprehension.
