Chapter 337:

Upon returning, Ashton found Rosalie still ensconced in the dressing room, wrestling with the particularly elaborate dress. There was little Ashton could do but keep waiting; after all, the dress’s intricate design made it a real puzzle to put on.

Using this delay to his advantage, Ashton took the bag, which the security guard had entrusted to him, and prepared to hand it over to a shop assistant.

Yet, just as he was about to reach the counter, a petite girl made a beeline toward him.

Though this girl didn’t rival Rosalie’s beauty, her dainty features and slight baby fat gave her an endearing, doll-like quality.

However, her demeanor was far from charming.

She glared at the LV bag in Ashton’s hand, puffed up her cheeks, and made a grab for it. Uncertain if she was the rightful owner, Ashton held the bag aloft, out of her reach.

The girl, named Vivian Olson, despite her sweet exterior, had a fiery temper.

Seeing Ashton’s refusal to relinquish the bag, she blurted out, “You shameless thief! How dare you keep my bag! I’m calling the police right now!”

Vivian’s outburst drew a crowd, and when they glimpsed Ashton’s handsome face, their hostility flared.

The girl’s anger turned her lovely face a fierce crimson, and the crowd’s disapproval swiftly followed. “How dare you bully such a petite and innocent girl! Are you even a man?”

Taken aback, Ashton tried to clarify.

“You’ve got it all wrong. I saw a thief make off with this bag and retrieved it. This girl just came up and tried to grab it without a word. I’m not sure if she’s the owner, so I didn’t hand it over.”

Vivian’s agitation escalated. She gave Ashton a hard shove. As he struggled to steady himself, she snatched her bag and pulled out her cell phone, brandishing a selfie on the screen.

“Take a good look! That’s me on the wallpaper. Now you know who owns this bag!” Vivian declared, her voice dripping with indignation.

A few young men among the onlookers, eager to champion her cause, rallied with renewed fervor.

“See! The evidence is clear. What’s your excuse now?” one of them said.

“I knew right away this guy was up to no good!” another declared.

Vivian basked in the support, glaring at Ashton with vindictive satisfaction.

“I suspect this man is a thief. I caught him red-handed, and now he’s trying to wriggle out of it. Someone, arrest him and take him to the police station!”

Vivian’s cutting words, laced with venomous intent, plunged into Ashton like daggers, casting a shadow over his face that darkened his expression to a stormy gray.

Without uttering a single word, Ashton’s mere presence, his sharp glare, and formidable aura sent a shiver down the spines of the young men who had been on the verge of stepping forward. His silent intensity held them in place, like deer caught in headlights.
