Rosalie had been caught off guard by the unexpected situation, but she quickly regained her composure.

With all eyes on her, she took a deep breath and finally gave her answer.

She bowed politely to Fraser and said, “Thank you, Fraser, but your gift and your feelings are far too valuable to be wasted on me. I’m sorry, but I can’t accept them.”

When people heard Rosalie’s response, they were stunned. In most people’s opinion, the fact that Rosalie and Fraser grew up together meant that they were a match made in heaven. Everyone saw their relationship as close and assumed they were already a couple.

Because of this perception, many wealthy young men who admired Rosalie’s beauty and her family’s status had given up on the idea of pursuing her.

But now, it was clear from Rosalie’s words that she was turning Fraser down.

The truth was, Rosalie had never felt anything romantic toward Fraser, and she had recently seen his true colors.

If not for her need to avoid openly offending him and to protect the ties between the Campbell and Horton families, she would have rejected Fraser in a much harsher way.

While still kneeling on one knee on the ground, Fraser slowly pulled back his hand, feeling the sting of her rejection. A brief shadow of frustration crossed his face.

Despite his frustration, Fraser managed to hold back his anger and forced a smile at Rosalie.

“It seems that I never knew you as well as I thought I did. What a shame.”

Rosalie gave him a slight nod, pressing her lips together. Her next words made Fraser so furious that he nearly lost control then and there.

With a calm smile, she turned to the guests and said, “This birthday party is particularly meaningful for me. As you know, the project I’ve been working on recently has met with success, and my father has finally acknowledged my abilities. To celebrate this moment, I’d like to invite a gentleman with exceptional musical talent to join me in a performance in the crystal room.”

Fraser felt a wave of rage and barely kept himself from exploding. Others might not have realized it, but he knew exactly what she meant. Rosalie was asking Ashton to perform with her.

The announcement stirred excitement among the other men at the venue. Now that Rosalie had turned Fraser down, it meant they might still have a chance with her.

The wealthy young men couldn’t hold back any longer and started vying for her attention.

“Miss Campbell, I’m an excellent pianist. I’d love to perform with you!”

“Rosalie, I’ve released three music albums online. I know my way around music!”

“I’m one of the top three guitarists in Inewood. You must be choosing me, right?”

Rosalie kept a polite smile in response to their eagerness.

Her gaze, however, never left Ashton.

Before Ashton had a chance to speak, she walked over to him and asked, “Ashton, would you do me the honor of performing with me?”
