Chapter 362:

“For someone with your experience, I’d expect a little wisdom. But you’ve mistaken confidence for arrogance. And that’s why you’re standing on the losing side of this fight.”

The assassin froze in place, unable to move. Despite his outward calm, his entire frame shook with tremors. Overwhelmed by fear, he quickly raised his hands in surrender.

Seeing the assassins’ feeble state, Ashton lost interest in further confrontation. He barked, “I’ll give you a chance. Tell me who sent you here!”

The only assassin who was still conscious broke into a cold sweat, his voice quivering. “Please, let us go just this once. We were blinded by greed. It’ll never happen again!”

As Ashton studied the assassin’s hesitant expression, he was about to press him further when a sudden thought stopped him. An intense gut feeling warned him that something was off about this man.

While the assassin’s trembling was expected, his hand suspiciously fidgeted, as though he was reaching for something concealed in his sleeve.

Moreover, despite his pleas, Ashton detected no real fear in his tone.

It seemed like he was stalling, trying to keep Ashton nearby.

Trusting his instincts, Ashton acted swiftly.

He pushed the assassin away with a forceful kick and turned to leave without looking back.

The assassin sprang to his feet and called out with a menacing grin, “Don’t go! Don’t you want to know who sent us? Come here. I’ll tell you right now!”

As he beckoned Ashton closer, he charged forward. But before he could close the distance, his body erupted in a violent explosion.

Seeing this, Ashton, ever vigilant, immediately took cover behind his car, narrowly avoiding the shockwave from the blast.

His face turned pale as he realized the severity of the situation. The three assassins had explosives inside them. These were no ordinary assassins. They were desperate men, willing to go to any lengths to accomplish their mission.

Ashton’s thoughts raced to the Dark Night Organization, the only group he knew capable of molding such fanatical loyalty in its operatives.

As he reflected on earlier doubts, pieces began to click into place.

These assassins had been dispatched by Fraser, and, strikingly, the same organization had supplied the hitmen for Phillip. That was to say, it was probably Fraser who had sent assassins to kill Phillip.

Connecting the dots, Ashton speculated boldly.

Cultivating such dedicated assassins wasn’t easy. Fraser’s ability to command them suggested he might be a high-ranking member of the Dark Night Organization.

The implications were grave. Initially, Ashton had believed Fraser merely intended to target Rosalie and undermine the Campbell family.
