Chapter 390:

The atmosphere buzzed with various conversations and theories.

Seeing the turmoil, Flint spread his hands in resignation and said, “Look, with all this commotion, the thief has probably taken the opportunity to slip away.”

Yet at that moment, Ashton said with a smile, “That might not be the case. Hey, you, come over here a second. I have something to ask you.”

Knowing Ashton was referring to her, Dora reluctantly responded, “My name is Dora, not ‘hey you’. What do you want?”

Instantly, Ashton asked, “Do you always wear No. 7 Women’s Perfume? Can you identify its scent?”

Dora eyed Ashton warily and murmured defensively, “How do you know my perfume? Are you secretly attracted to me?”

Ashton ignored her unnecessary remarks and simply took it as her admitting the truth.

Then, Ashton shifted his focus toward the door, specifically toward Flint, who had shown a keen interest in Dora, and instructed, “Go over to him and take a sniff, particularly around his wrist. Does it smell like No. 7 Women’s Perfume?”

Upon hearing Ashton’s words, everyone was visibly shocked, their attention abruptly turning to Flint.

With the suspicion now directed at him, Flint, who had been enjoying the unfolding drama, suddenly looked alarmed and responded, “Don’t listen to him; he’s just trying to make trouble for me. If I were really the thief, why would I stay here to help?”

While Flint was speaking, he gradually moved back into the crowd, apparently trying to disappear among them. Ashton, focused on his target, noticed Flint’s attempt to escape and swiftly reached out to pull him back.

“Don’t make false accusations against a decent person. I’m just an innocent bystander with good intentions. How could I be the thief?” Flint protested and struggled. Ignoring Flint’s protests, Ashton brought Flint’s hand closer to Dora.

With reluctance, Dora leaned in toward Flint’s wrist and sniffed.

Her face immediately changed; it was unmistakably the scent of the No. 7 Women’s Perfume she always used!

As Dora’s shocked face registered with the crowd, they began to piece together that Ashton was probably telling the truth.

Staring at Flint in disbelief, Dora felt a mix of disappointment and betrayal. She had genuinely liked his lively demeanor, only to find out he was a complete creep.

Flint avoided her gaze, his eyes darting elsewhere as he faltered. “Don’t believe everything you hear! You asked me to come in and pulled my hand earlier. That’s why I have the scent of your perfume on my wrist.”

Dora’s eyes flickered with a hint of hope, wanting to believe Flint’s explanation.

But Ashton quickly countered, “Ever noticed how he’s been sticking close since your clothes went missing? He likely hasn’t had the chance to take what he stole out of this place yet; the stolen items are probably still in his locker.”

He looked at Flint and added, “It’s simple to clear your name. Just open your locker and let’s check.”
