Chapter 393
Chapter 393:
He lost consciousness from the pain, only to be abruptly awakened by the excruciating sensation.
His screams filled the room, making his comrades tremble.
Ashton remained unfazed by the man’s reaction and continued with a smile, “If you’re not ready to talk, I can wait. The night is young, and I have all the time in the world to break you down.”
Only then did the assassins understand why their target was valued at five million—this was not someone they could easily overpower.
After enduring such torment, the assassin under Ashton’s control finally broke, sobbing, “Sir, it’s not that we’re unwilling to talk; we genuinely know nothing. Our employer was anonymous; they just gave us your details and location and told us to proceed with the job!”
Without a response, Ashton removed the silver needle from the man’s neck, and the man collapsed with a groan. Ashton had hoped to extract more information, but all their responses were similarly non-specific.
While Ashton was questioning the assassins inside, a tall, slim figure lurked in the shadows outside the hotel. He idly twirled a playing card in his hand while casting a playful glance toward the hotel’s accommodation area.
Fraser had sent him over to confirm the death of the target. But he didn’t want the target to die too quickly, as that would spoil the fun.
After waiting for about an hour and seeing no trace of the assassins, he assumed that they had likely failed.
“Interesting. It seems I need to return and make preparations,” murmured the shadowy figure, ceasing his manipulation of the playing card and departing the hotel area with a sinister chuckle.
Ashton was oblivious to the developments occurring out of his sight.

The following morning, as soon as Abrial learned of the assassination attempt on Ashton and Rosalie, she hurried over.
Upon confirming that they were safe, she expressed her relief.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t think this through completely. I didn’t anticipate that Davis would still have allies out there seeking revenge!”
Ashton was ready to fabricate an explanation for the assassination attempt, but seeing that Abrial had already assumed a narrative, he decided to remain silent. Noticing the concern on Rosalie’s lovely face, Abrial said, “Rosalie, why don’t you and your assistant stay at my place for a bit? Our security is much better than this hotel’s.”
While Abrial’s offer seemed thoughtful, Rosalie sensed an underlying intensity in her gaze that suggested there was more to the offer.
Reluctantly, Rosalie looked to Ashton for his input.
After a moment of consideration and for safety reasons, Ashton subtly signaled Rosalie to accept the invitation.
The assassins had targeted him this time, but had they split up and attacked Rosalie’s room last night, the outcome could have been grave.
Ashton wasn’t overly concerned for his own safety, but he worried for Rosalie’s well-being.
