Chapter 402
Chapter 402:
The vendor, sensing the brewing competition, rubbed his hands together, seeing a golden opportunity.
“You both have fine taste,” he began with a grin. “This herb is indeed rare, hard to come by even in the most remote mountains. If you want them, it’ll come down to who’s willing to pay the highest price.”
Abrial immediately stepped forward in support of Ashton. “Ashton, don’t even hesitate. Whatever the price is, I’ve got you covered for helping me earlier.”
Craig let out a laugh, condescending and sharp. “Oh, please, Abrial. I know exactly how deep your pockets are, and you’re not even close to outbidding me. These herbs are as good as mine.”
But before Abrial could respond, Rosalie stepped in, her tone firm, determined to get the herbs for her sister.
“Count me in. I’ll pay for Ashton.”
With Rosalie stepping forward, Craig’s face stiffened.
While he had mocked Skyline Group in their first encounter, he had learned the truth about Skyline Group’s strength.
Rosalie, the heiress of the Campbell family—Skyline Group’s business partner, wielded more influence than he could handle. The Campbell fortune was leagues beyond what Craig could contend with. Feeling cornered, Craig tried a different tactic. He sneered at…
Ashton smiled and said, “So this is how it is? Hiding behind women to solve your problems? How about proving your worth in a fair one-on-one contest?”
Before Rosalie or Abrial could respond, Ashton’s eyes gleamed with amusement. He stepped forward, smiling. “Alright. If that’s what you want, I’ll take you up on that challenge.”
Craig had thoroughly researched Rosalie and was well aware of her sidekick, Ashton.

He knew Ashton had once been the son-in-law of a minor family in Inewood but was expelled by them. Somehow, he had won over Rosalie and become her companion.
In Craig’s eyes, Ashton was merely a pretty boy with no genuine skills or wealth to match him in a financial contest.
Witnessing Ashton’s readiness to rise to his challenge, Craig laughed scornfully and mocked, “Look at the courage on this handsome fellow. Sadly, you stand no chance against me!”
With that, Craig turned to the herb vendor and confidently said, “I’ll buy all these herbs for 300,000 dollars!”
For such a small quantity of herbs, even rare ones, Craig believed the price would never justifiably reach that amount. Yet, he was prepared to pay it to undermine Ashton’s confidence.
The vendor’s excitement was evident. He had assumed 10,000 dollars was the limit, but now he was poised to make a sale far beyond his expectations!
Just as the vendor nodded eagerly, ready to wrap the herbs for Craig, Ashton made his move.
“1.3 million dollars.” Ashton said this astounding figure calmly.
