Chapter 420:

Dismissed by all as a certain folly, the warehouse now commanded the undivided focus of the crowd.

Most attendees had stayed not out of hope, but to enjoy what they expected to be a ridiculous revelation.

Craig had just pocketed some profit and was eager to witness what he expected to be Ashton’s humiliating debacle.

As Ashton neared the warehouse’s entrance, Craig couldn’t resist the opportunity to jeer at him.

“Seriously, Ashton, in this modern era, you still attempted to use such outdated ploys to trick me? You must be dreaming! Just look at yourself, squandering a fortune on…”

“What? A heap of rubbish! Why don’t you step inside and see if there’s anything in there less decayed that you might use for firewood? Otherwise, once word gets out that you blew your budget just to tidy up someone else’s disaster, your company’s reputation will be toast!”

Ashton, unbothered by Craig’s ridicule, responded nonchalantly,

“We’ll see if it’s trash or treasure.”

With that, Ashton walked into the warehouse.

He quickly spotted what he had been searching for—a plain wooden stool obscured beneath a stack of decomposing wooden pieces.

This stool was exactly what Ashton had come for. Ignoring the rest of the warehouse’s contents, he grabbed the stool and departed.

Outside, Craig was all set to gloat over Ashton’s apparent flop, cackling loudly as he watched Ashton exit with only the stool.

“You spent over eight grand, and all you’ve got to show for it is that pathetic excuse for furniture? What’s the catch? Is it secretly stuffed with gold?”

Ashton waved off the remark dismissively and responded,

“Only to someone who doesn’t know better, everything appears as mere junk.”

Irritated by the comment, Craig was about to snap back when he noticed Ashton tapping the stool. With each tap, its exterior began to deteriorate, revealing an intricately carved wooden statue hidden within.

Startled, Craig let out a mocking laugh, certain the statue was of little worth.

Jeff, however, saw its true potential and quickly stepped forward to inspect it.

“You’ve seen it, haven’t you? This isn’t just any sculpture,” Ashton said, his grin widening.

Jeff nodded enthusiastically, his excitement evident.

“Absolutely. It’s carved from Dragonwood! The scent it gives off is highly restorative. Even after many years, the fragrance lingers strongly. And even a modern Dragonwood piece is quite valuable. I would be willing to bid six hundred thousand dollars for it.”

At Jeff’s offer, surprised murmurs swept through the onlookers.

With that single antique, Ashton had managed to secure a return many times over his initial outlay.
