Chapter 431
Chapter 431:
Ashton replied with a confident smile, “Absolutely, we’re simply here to eat. Feel free to investigate anything you doubt!”
Vincent’s irritation only escalated in response to Beal’s provocative words. The audacity of these young heirs was growing too bold, challenging whether he had taken bribes!
Vincent immediately adopted a stern expression, fixed Beal with a glare, and declared, “Unless I’m mistaken, you are Beal, the general manager of Sup Group, correct? If you believe I’ve accepted a bribe from Mr. Baldwin, feel free to report me. I’m always open to an investigation. However, should your accusations prove unfounded, I suggest you monitor Sup Group’s financial activities closely in the future!”
Vincent’s words carried an unmistakable threat, and he certainly had the authority to enforce it. This left Beal deeply alarmed. To offend the director of the Department of Commerce could cripple their company, potentially leading to its collapse.
Understanding the severity of the situation, Beal refrained from further argument. He quickly signaled to Jacoby and the others, and they exited swiftly.
Descending to the hotel lobby, Beal was still consumed by outrage. He wondered whether Vincent was merely posturing—a scenario not entirely out of the question. Considering Ashton’s humble origins in Inewood, how likely was it that he could gain such favor with the director of the Department of Commerce without some underhanded dealings?
If it wasn’t bribery, perhaps Skyline Group had leveraged its connections to secure Vincent’s support, implying that Ashton would cover the cost of this meal. If Beal could uncover any discrepancies, he was prepared to exploit them to undermine Vincent.
Upon reaching the hotel front desk to settle the bill, Beal casually asked, “I noticed someone hosting the director of the Department of Commerce for a meal. Which private room have they booked?”
The receptionist, familiar with serving affluent and influential clients, recognized Beal and Roy. She smiled and responded, “Oh, they are in Room 302. But it was Vincent who personally covered the meal costs. I’m not sure who the distinguished guests are.”

This revelation left Beal stunned. Was it possible that Ashton had attempted to ingratiate himself with Vincent, only for Vincent to bear the expenses himself?
Now, with no leverage left, Beal wondered where he could turn next.
After receiving the information, Beal left with a sense of dejection. He was convinced that Ashton and Vincent were in cahoots, but he hadn’t anticipated their caution. They had even gone as far as having Vincent pay the bill to avoid leaving any incriminating evidence behind.
Beal and his group had no choice but to leave the area quickly, fearing that Vincent might come after them.
Initially, Vincent had intended to pursue the matter further, but Ashton dissuaded him.
“Let’s not chase after them,” Ashton said calmly. “We don’t have solid evidence of their scheming, and pressing them could backfire on us.”
