Chapter 453
Chapter 453:
Marlon fixed Phil with a cold glare and retorted, “What? Not pleased to see me? Worried I’ll expose your underhanded schemes?”
Phil’s smile stiffened, and he hastily responded, “Sir, surely you jest. I have always adhered to the rules. How could I possibly be involved in anything dubious?”
Marlon shot back, “Then explain to me why you attempted to expel them.”
Phil, sensing the gravity of the confrontation, wiped the sweat from his brow and replied with a strained smile, “Sir, you may not be aware, but this individual was creating a disturbance at the venue, significantly disrupting the proceedings. After failed attempts at persuasion, I was compelled to have them removed.”
Marlon’s expression remained unyielding as he questioned further, “Do you really think I came here without full knowledge of the situation?”
Phil’s countenance shifted as he attempted an explanation, but Marlon cut him off, slapping the file he held in his hand.
“The corrupt arrangement you have with the Marquez family from Sup Group… Did you think you could keep it hidden from me? I’ve reviewed the proposals, and Sup Group’s was abysmal—utterly nonsensical and poorly presented. It defies logic that they won the bid. How dare you assert there was no foul play?”
With a flourish, Marlon opened the file and revealed the incriminating documents to all present. “Here are your recent bank statements. Merely three days ago, your account was abruptly credited with a staggering half a million dollars. How do you, a mere district director, account for such a substantial sum?”
The entire room was left agape at the evidence Marlon brandished. While suspicions of misconduct had been murmured, none had anticipated seeing Phil caught so definitively in Marlon’s trap.
Phil, his face a mask of despair, collapsed in defeat. He was baffled as to why a seemingly insignificant bidding meeting had garnered Marlon’s meticulous scrutiny. Brimming with smug assurance moments before, the Marquez brothers now wore expressions of solemnity, their earlier arrogance vanished.
Marlon, unfazed by their shock, swiftly commanded the officials outside to detain Phil for further investigation.

Seizing the microphone with authority, Marlon announced, “I must apologize; the results previously declared by Phil are now void. Allow me to present the legitimate outcomes of this bidding process.”
He directed his team to unveil the evaluations from the eight-member review panel.
According to the disclosed results, Sup Group’s proposal had secured merely one vote, while Skyline Group, represented by Ashton, had impressively gathered seven votes.
Though the voting was conducted anonymously, it was clear to all that the lone vote for Sup Group and the missing endorsement for Skyline Group were Phil’s manipulations.
Upon confirming the official tally, Marlon exhaled a relieved breath and declared, “With the final votes tallied, I am pleased to announce that Skyline Group is the rightful winner of this bid!”
He then fixed a frosty glare upon the Marquez brothers, his voice resolute as he continued, “Moreover, due to incontrovertible proof of bribery, Sup Group is hereby barred from participating in any land development projects in Staville for the next three years and must vacate this venue immediately!”
