Carlotta, who had recently joined the company as Jeff’s assistant, was thrilled to learn about the impending discussion with Kirsten. She eagerly approached Ashton. “Please, Mr. Baldwin, may I welcome Kirsten? I’ve been a huge admirer for years and would love to get a photograph with her,” she pleaded, her eyes gleaming with hope. Ashton, moved by her genuine enthusiasm, found it impossible to refuse and consented to her request.
Elated by Ashton’s approval, Carlotta applied makeup for the occasion, aiming to make a memorable impression on her idol, despite usually opting for a more natural look. However, Carlotta’s excitement was short-lived.
Upon discovering that Carlotta was merely an assistant, Kirsten’s demeanor shifted markedly. Her attitude became dismissive and haughty. Kirsten not only ordered Carlotta around as though she were a servant but also disregarded her attempts to discuss the potential collaboration.
Initially, Carlotta was brimming with excitement; however, as time passed, a nagging suspicion crept in that something was amiss. She perceived Kirsten’s condescending gaze, feeling undervalued and unworthy of discussing any business matters.
Worried that Carlotta might make a mistake in her excitement, Ashton had been vigilantly monitoring the reception room through the surveillance system. Witnessing Kirsten’s disdainful behavior, a frown etched itself deeply across his features.
At her breaking point and feeling utterly despondent, Carlotta was relieved when Ashton entered the room with a decisive push of the door. “Mr. Baldwin, you’re here!” Carlotta called out in a timid voice.
Ashton nodded without a trace of emotion and calmly suggested, “You go take a break first; I’ll handle Miss Sanchez.”
Catching sight of the “General Manager” badge on Ashton’s chest, Kirsten switched to charm mode, offering him a contrived smile.

After Carlotta left, she smoothly continued before Ashton could even get a word in, “You must be Mr. Baldwin. I’ve heard so much about you. You’re quite the talk of Staville. I never knew you were so young and handsome!” She sauntered over, sitting down beside him with flirtatious ease and crossed her long, slender legs close to his.
Ashton, taken aback, coughed lightly and shifted away from her with cool detachment. He was already committed to someone else, and Kirsten’s earlier disdainful attitude left him unable to regard her favorably.
When she caught his stern rejection, a shade of embarrassment briefly colored her expression.
Carlton, her agent, who had been observing from behind, quickly stepped in to smooth over the tension. “Mr. Baldwin, I’m terribly sorry. Kirsten is naturally enthusiastic and was merely jesting. Please, let’s not dwell on this,” he proposed with a conciliatory tone. “Let’s refocus on the business at hand, and perhaps discuss other matters privately later, if you agree?”
Ashton raised an eyebrow, responding firmly, “We can indeed discuss the partnership, but first, an apology to our staff for your earlier conduct is necessary!”
Kirsten, momentarily taken aback, responded with a dismissive chuckle. “Mr. Baldwin, surely you jest. We enjoyed our interaction with your assistant. What sort of apology do you expect from us?”
