She adopted a gentler voice and said, “Sweetie, why is it taking you so long to get here from the parking lot? I feel like I’m being ganged up on in your studio. These people are incredibly rude. Please hurry and come to my rescue, okay?”

A chill ran down Ashton’s spine upon hearing her overly flirtatious tone. He was also concerned that Ellis might decide to intervene, which would only complicate things further. He wasn’t in the mood to manage their nonsense right now.

In the past, Ellis would have likely rushed to respond as Ashton anticipated.

However, this time, just as Ellis was about to respond affirmatively, he paused. He remembered inviting Ashton over the previous night for a promotional video shoot. After a recent unpleasant experience with his men, Ellis had become more cautious.

Rather than responding impulsively, Ellis asked with a hint of caution, “What’s the matter, love? Who are you clashing with?”

Keira, not picking up on the wariness in Ellis’ voice, was thrilled to be addressed so affectionately.
