Chapter 501
Chapter 501:
Ashton grasped Kinsey by the collar, his anger palpable. “Isn’t it the core mission of a doctor to save lives and aid the injured? Look at yourselves—are you truly upholding that mission, or are you just cowards shirking your responsibilities?”
Kinsey, deeply wounded by Ashton’s accusations, wrenched himself free from Ashton’s grasp and retorted angrily, “Who are you to judge me—a madman daring to cast judgment? Trying to save someone who is practically gone is futile and a waste of our resources. You seem intent on provoking an incident here!”
At that moment, the escalating voices caught the attention of Emanuel Brooks, the hospital director, who was passing by. He quickly entered the emergency room, his presence demanding silence as he inquired, “Why is there so much noise here? What exactly is going on?”
Upon seeing Emanuel, Kinsey hurried forward, eagerly explaining the situation while subtly flattering the director to garner his support.
After hearing the account, Emanuel glanced toward Milena, lying vulnerable on the hospital bed. He frowned, observing her weakened state, and shook his head in resignation.
Ashton, unwilling to waste another precious moment, declared resolutely, “Given her critical condition, we cannot afford any delay. If you are unwilling to assist, I understand, but I am merely requesting the use of your hospital’s facilities and medical equipment. I will assume full responsibility for the treatment!”
Upon hearing Ashton’s declaration, Emanuel was taken aback. Even seasoned professionals were baffled by this illness, and here was Ashton, proposing to undertake her treatment on his own?
Quickly composing himself, Emanuel responded earnestly, “Sir, I understand your urgency and concern, but this situation is far from simple. How can we approach it lightly? I strongly advise that you transfer her to the leading medical facility in Staville immediately. There, she may still stand a chance. If you attempt to treat her here, on your own, I fear the outcome could be death.”
Meanwhile, Kinsey, unable to hide his satisfaction over the turn of events, whispered to Emanuel, “I suspect this man might be trying to place the blame on us. If anything goes wrong with the patient, he could use it as leverage to extract a hefty compensation from the hospital.”

At this moment, Ashton couldn’t care less about Kinsey’s malicious speculations. His thoughts were all on Milena.
She was still unconscious, and her body was mottled with blotchy spots because of the toxins. Her breathing was shallow, and her face was flushed with a feverish redness. Every second was precious now. He couldn’t waste any more time.
However, Ashton couldn’t confront the doctors directly. With an idea in mind, he turned to the nurse beside him.
His phone was broken in the scuffle earlier, so he had to ask the nurse for help. “Excuse me. Can I borrow your phone? I just need to make a call.”
The nurse hesitated for a moment, glancing at Ashton. But when she saw the worry in his eyes, she was forced to hand him her phone.
Ashton took the phone and quickly called Garrett, the renowned medical expert in Inewood.
As soon as the call was connected, Ashton said with a sense of urgency, “Garrett, I need your help right away. The situation is critical. I can’t afford any delays.”
