Chapter 505
Chapter 505:
His grave tone took her by surprise. Softly, with a hint of concern, Rosalie responded, “Is this about Fraser?”
Ashton took a deep breath, his face serious. “Things are worse than I feared. The city is a minefield, and I can’t let you get caught in the crossfire.”
Rosalie’s eyes fell, a shadow passing over her face, but she soon lifted her chin with a firm nod.
“I get it. Since I can’t be of any help, I’ll make sure I’m not in your way.” Her expression was one of steadfast resolve.
While the sisters packed up for a swift departure, Ashton took a brief rest. Then, he escorted them to the train station. He would have preferred to fly them out of danger, but the train was the better option considering Selena’s heart condition.
Arriving at the bustling station, Ashton tried to shake off the weariness clinging to him. In such a crowded environment, the heightened risk was palpable.
As they awaited their train, Ashton’s eyes darted around, vigilant. That was when he noticed someone suspicious—a man in a hoodie.
Amid the summer heat, the man’s hood, mask, and sunglasses were distinctly out of place.
Yet, he blended into the background, mostly unnoticed behind a row of people.
Ashton’s gaze remained fixed on the hooded man.
Suddenly, the man sidled up to a trash bin, discreetly dropped a bag inside, and nonchalantly walked away.
When Ashton caught this scene, an unsettling thought seized him.
He pondered whether the Dark Night Organization was on the brink of initiating an assault.

Doubting his own instincts, Ashton decided that playing it safe was the wisest choice.
He edged closer to Rosalie and murmured, “I need to verify something. Stay alert. If you spot any green smoke emanating from that trash bin—or notice anything odd—make a run for it!” Ashton didn’t linger for her reply and started toward the man. To keep the man from getting suspicious, Ashton melded into the crowd, advancing subtly.
The man picked up on Ashton’s approach almost immediately. He abruptly altered his path, attempting to vanish into the crowd just as Ashton came within ten feet of him.
When Ashton saw the hooded man’s reaction, his suspicions were confirmed immediately. He was sure something was off about this man.
Thus, he dropped any pretense and surged forward with a burst of speed.
Although the station was bustling, Ashton skillfully maneuvered through the crowd and approached the hooded man.
However, the hooded man immediately realized that he was being followed. He stopped pretending to be calm, shoved people out of his way, and ran forward.
He was so panicky that he didn’t realize his path was a dead end. His eyes darted around frantically, finding himself trapped, with nowhere else to run.
